Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Walk the final 100 km of the iconic Camino de Santiago with a local leader to provide historical context and add a deeper layer of understanding to your discoveries.
Uncover scenes of the real Galicia as you walk through traditional countryside, small hamlets, ancient bridges, roman ruins and beautifully preserved horreos on stilts.
Fuel your journey with unique Galician specialties, including traditional polbo a feira (octopus) in Melide and world-renowned cheese in Arzua.
Take a sip of Galicia’s Celtic history as your leader shows you how to make the traditional and mythical queimada drink – prepare for a fiery show!
Feel an unbeatable sense of accomplishment as you complete your journey in the fascinating ancient city of Santiago de Compostela and collect your Camino certificate.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip involves plenty of walking and is best suited to travellers with a good level of mobility. Good footwear is a must.
There will be some long walking days, and we recommend reading descriptions of all walks carefully. Your longest walking day is 29 km, but there will be the option to take a taxi to shorten the walking distance.
During your trip you will visit numerous religious sites. You will need to bring clothes that cover the shoulders and knees. A light scarf is a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot. Your leader will be able to advise when such clothing is necessary.
On this trip you must pack as lightly as possible because you’ll be expected to carry your own bag. Although you won't be required to walk long distances with your luggage (max 30 minutes), we strongly recommend keeping the weight under 15 kg (33 lb). Most travellers carry their luggage in a backpack, although an overnight bag with a shoulder strap would suffice. You'll also need a day pack/bag to carry water and a camera for daytrips.

Absolutely wonderful - glorious green Galician countryside; friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic leader; camaraderie with fellow pilgrims. Don't worry about the physical challenge - rest stops are frequent, lots of good food and drink en route and your leader and fellow pilgrims will keep morale high! Getting into Santiago will be a memory for life

El Camino from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela: This was a strenuous trip, but we had an amazing group of people from all over the world. Our guide, Jose, was excellent. He made reservations to local, family owned restaurants, introduced us to the local culture and customs, was very supportive and helpful with arrangements and health concerns. He knew very well the local resources and was very well connected. I strongly recommend this trip: El Camino from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela. It is the right length and duration.

As a naturalist I would have appreciated more knowledge of the amount of Australian Eucalyptus growing & what farming was conducted as we walked thru farming country. I knew most from observation but perhaps I thought the rest of the group didn’t believe me

You can go walk the Camino under your own steam, but I guarantee you will not get the same experience or satisfaction than you will with Intrepid! So knowledgeable - so well organised - so connected to the locals. It wouldn’t have been anywhere near as good without Jose!

Unforgettable Camino Experience with Intrepid — Ask for Cristina! I just returned from a life-changing journey on the Camino de Santiago with Intrepid, and I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. Every detail was thoughtfully organized, the itinerary was inspiring, and the accommodations were comfortable — but what truly made this trip extraordinary was our guide, Cristina. If you have the chance to travel with Cristina, request her by name. She is more than a guide — she is a soulful leader who brings passion, purpose, and heart to every step of the journey. From the first warm greeting to the final farewell, Cristina created an atmosphere of connection, reflection, and joy. She brings people together with grace, celebrates each person’s unique path, and leads with integrity, insight, and compassion. Cristina doesn’t just lead the Camino — she lives it. For her, this is not a job; it’s a mission. She has a rare gift for creating a space where both personal growth and group bonding happen naturally. Whether through sharing history, encouraging creativity, or holding space for laughter and tears, Cristina made this journey unforgettable. If you’re considering a Camino trip (or any Intrepid adventure), don’t hesitate. And if you can, ask for Cristina. She’s an absolute gift to anyone lucky enough to travel with her and what I know is intrepid hires other guides as well that bring light to the way. The Camino is a must and we are all on a Camino and we can choose the way the truth and the life
