On Days 3 and 4 we cover up to 60kms/37 miles on the bike so a good level of fitness is required.
On Day 3 our accommodation for the evening is a local homestay where you and your family will sleep on mattresses in a communal room. Bedding and mosquito nets are provided. Shared toilet and bathroom facilities are basic.

Important notes
1. Please note that these trips are for adults and children travelling together and there must be at least one child under 18 with you.
2. Minimum age: 10 years old. Please note that anyone aged under 18 must be accompanied by (and share accommodation with) a parent or legal guardian.
3. A discount of 10% applies on this trip to children 17 or younger at the time of travel.
4. Please provide your full name exactly as per passport at the time of booking (including any middle names listed on your passport), for overnight train tickets. Ticketing fees may apply for amendments to details within 45 days of departure, and in some cases you will be required to cover the cost of issuing a new ticket.
5. Two single supplements are available to book on this trip if you'd prefer your own room. A hotel single supplement will cover the 5 nights spent in Hotels in Hanoi, Hoi An and Ninh Binh. The other single supplement available to book will cover the Overnight train (Day 6) if you prefer your family to have a private cabin (cabin fits 4 people). Note Day 3 (Homestay) will be shared accommodation and Day 5 (Halong Bay) is excluded from the single supplements due to limited capacity on the boat. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.
6.This trip starts with a welcome meeting at 5 pm on Day 1 in Hanoi. This trip ends on Day 9 and you are free to leave at any time.
7. Tet is Vietnam's New Year festival, held annually in late January or early February based on the lunar calendar. While this can be a fascinating time to travel and experience this event, expect some shop closures and busier than usual local transport. Opening hours at some tourist sites may also be affected or closed. Although we make all reasonable efforts to avoid disruption, a flexible approach from the traveler is appreciated.
8. During the rainy months (approx. June to October), our mode of transport can be changed at short notice due to weather conditions.

I'm so glad I selected the Vietnam Family Holiday with Teenagers; we had a small group of 10 (3 families) and have made lasting friendships. The organisation and considerations by Intrepid to balance activities, downtime, engagement and free time has been well accomplished on this trip. Our guide was friendly, kind, engaging and helpful. Consideration for the local environment and people was obvious. Thank you for creating a family holiday for teenagers without theme parks!!!

This trip has so many different elements that were great for teenagers. Between the beautiful country side where we cycled, the boat trip, overnight train and the canoeing we had an incredible, busy and informative trip, where everyday was an opportunity to see and experience something new. Thanks to our leader Dat and the other two families who made the trip both memorable and fun.

Initially skeptical about "packaged tours," we booked one and were pleasantly surprised. The group was great, the kids bonded, and parents got a break. We had a fantastic time and expanded our horizons. The only downside? We wished for more street food!

Our family with 12 and 15year old daughters loved the whole trip, so much diversity from cycling on streets of hanoi to cycling in the gentle, stunning Mai Chau countryside. Oscar was a terrific, helpful tour leader , sharing his local knowledge and insights and helped set up ebikes for us when needed to make the 60km cycles more enjoyable.

This is a fantastic tour for anyone with active teenagers who want to gain an insight into Vietnam. It suited our family of five with kids aged 10, 14 and 16. We loved the busy itinerary with bike riding, kayaking and the overnight boat and train trips. The places you go and the knowledge you gain on this tour in such a short space of time just could not be achieved whilst travelling independently. Travelling with other families with similar aged kids made everything just a bit more fun too. Highly recommended!

A fantastic trip with our teenage children. They were happy the whole time, bonded well and spent far less time on their phones than usual. A well organised and well managed itinerary topped off with an excellent team leader added up to a great holiday adventure.

The perfect holiday for active families keen to explore Vietnam and get immersed in the culture and history. The bike rides and boat trip were particular highlights as well as Tung’s ability to engage everyone in the experience. This was our first Intrepid trip, with kids aged 9, 12, 14 & 16 and I’m already researching what we can do next!

An unforgettable family experience that truly touched each of us, both teenagers and adults. Due to the trips design we were able to immerse ourselves more authentically with local people and culture, history and food. Travelling by bike, boat, train and with a knowledgeable and organised guide is what made it so amazing.

Excellent trip, I’d book another Intrepid trip with teenagers again in a heartbeat. Tung was an excellent and supportive leader who could recommend a bunch of other useful things for us to do for our next stage of our trip in Danang as well. Fantastic memories from cycling through the crazy streets of Hanoi, squidding on Halong Bay, cooking in Hoi An and cruising into Mai Chau in the afternoon on the bike which was a true travel highlight of my life. Excellent to travel in a group and keep the kids entertained and engaged.
