Trip Informations
With its friendly locals, delicious food and incredible scenery, Vietnam is the ideal place for a family adventure. Stroll the winding streets of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, laugh yourself silly at the water puppet theatre at Hoan Kiem and see ancient temples and pagodas alongside modern houses from a cyclo. Barter with stallholders at a floating market, explore the Forbidden Purple City and eat all the pho you can handle. With 13 days to adventure from the towering limestone karsts of Halong Bay to the frenetic markets of Ho Chi Minh City, you and your gang will get all the highlights of vivacious Vietnam in one neat package.
Why you’ll love this trip
A cyclo tour of Hue is an excellent introduction to the bustling central Vietnam city, and the novelty of travelling on these three-wheeled wonders is a thrill for all ages.
There’s a perfect balance of included activities and free time, which is ideal in atmospheric destinations like Hoi An. Tailored threads, cooking class or beach day? Your choice.
Halong Bay is more than an amazing and unique natural wonder – it's a proper escape from the world around you. Sleep under the stars on a comfortable cruise boat and enjoy a sumptuous lunch and dinner on board.
By dining at KOTO in Hanoi, you and your family will not only feast on delicious northern specialties, you'll be supporting a cause that helps support disadvantaged youth with careers in hospitality.
Gain a real insight into village living with a special homestay in the Mekong Delta. You’ll access the homestay by water, and will be learning about daily life and laughing with the locals in no time.
Is this trip right for you?
This is Vietnam, so days are hot and sticky, and nights can get quite cool! Be sure to wear layers, use adequate sun protection and drink plenty of water.
You will visit a number of temples on this trip, and it's important to respect the local custom. Arms and knees should be covered. A light scarf is a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.
Be prepared for basic shared facilities at your Mekong Delta homestay (Day 11). The lack of creature comforts is, of course, a small price to pay for such an authentic local experience.
Your overnight train journey from Hanoi to Hue (Day 4) is quite long. The upside is, you'll wake up in a thrilling new destination and experience travelling like a local. While bedding is supplied some families opt to bring their own sleep sheets.

Highly recommended the Intrepid Family Tour with children as the itinerary is organised with them in mind. The hotel in Hoi Ann and Hanoi were excellent with fantastic pools. The additional activities like the cooking course and lantern making were fabulous as well.

My 12 year old son and I have had an amazing trip exploring Vietnam with Than. We loved all the experiences and being with other fun families. As a sole parent having all the travel details taken care of was awesome. I got to enjoy an exciting time with my son with peace of mind while travelling, Totally recommended this Vietnam adventure.

We saw and experienced so much awesomeness, a great way for a family to see the world. I cannot think of a better way to experience so much in a short time.

Our family of four (two boys, 5 & 10 years old) had a great time on this tour. Everything was handled and managed very well by Intrepid. Our tour leader, Quinnie, was just fantastic. The itinerary involved a good mix of activities suitable to all age groups and plenty of free time. Only constructive feedback would be to maintain the standard of transportation across all cities (our bus in Hue wasn’t great), include some solo activity(ies) for parents and kids separately and lastly, highlight the complexity and inconvenience of the Vietnam visa. Surely a lifelong memory for everyone, especially the kids!

If you are thinking of taking your family on a journey, Vietnam Family holiday is perfect. My 12 & 10 year old kids made friends and shared the adventures with both their new friends and family. Not one did I hear a complaint from them, they were too busy. A treat for all the senses, we all can't wait to go on another Intrepid Family Holiday.

As time poor, working parents, we didn’t have the capacity to plan all the logistics for a trip to Vietnam. Intrepid gave us a stress free travel experience which was seamless at every point. No waiting, no queues, no language barrier issues. Our guide was outstanding and the other children on our trip allowed our children to have constant attention and a play mate at all times. I would absolutely recommend an Intrepid holiday to Vietnam!

Travelling as a solo parent with Intrepid gave me an experience that exceeded my expectations each day. Our guide Linh was amazing, his attention to detail coordinating each meal, cultural experience with knowledge, transport, accommodation was faultless. He interacted with the children with positivity, encouragement and ice-cream. The feeling of no stress what so ever with everything being taken care was amazing. I can't wait to book our next adventure with Intrepid.

We loved our Family Comfort tour of Vietnam, from the north to the south of the country. It took all the hard work out of travel in an unfamiliar country with a different language, and we loved the small-group travel format, with two other lovely families, and our helpful and knowledgeable guide, Cong. Apart from the odd long bus trip of 3-4 hours, the kids were never bored. I would thoroughly recommend this style of travel to other families who want to share the world with their kids, and we are already thinking about our next trip!

Having been to Vietnam 20 years prior I was excited to take my family to experience the essence of the country that I loved. I felt intrepid with its amazing guide Cong Nguyen showcased Vietnam and all its beauty, noises, smells, lovely people and culture to a very high standard and I would recommend it to any family considering hassle free travel where all the planning has been taken care of for you.
