verified
Wander the coloured buildings, heritage-listed streets and bustling markets of Hoi An, then spend a day chilling out at the local palm-fringed beach.
verified

verified

Dine at KOTO in Hanoi, where you and your family will not only feast on delicious northern specialties but also support an excellent cause that helps connect street kids with careers in hospitality.
Is this trip right for you?
verified
You and your family will visit a number of temples on this trip, and it's important to respect the local custom. Arms and knees should be covered. A light scarf is a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.
verified
There will be shared facilities at your Mekong Delta homestay (Day 11), however, the lack of creature comforts will be a small price to pay for such an authentic local experience.
verified
Your overnight train journey from Hanoi to Hue (Day 4) is quite long. The upside is you'll wake up in a thrilling new destination and experience travelling like a local. While bedding is supplied some families opt to bring their own sleep sheets. Itinerary
Explore Vietnam’s cultural treasures and natural landscapes with the family
With delicious food, scenic natural sites and lots of friendly locals to teach you about the diverse culture, the whole family will fall in love with Vietnam on this 13-day trip. Sail through the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay, watch a water puppet show after exploring the Old Quarter of Hanoi and learn about rich emperors in Hue on a cyclo tour. Wander the colourful heritage buildings of Hoi An, then hit the beach to chill under palm trees (maybe even take a dip in the Vietnam East Sea!). Make paper flowers with an organisation that supports the local deaf community and enjoy a special dining experience at KOTO restaurant, an organisation that supports disadvantaged youth. This is Vietnam!

8. Tet is Vietnam's New Year festival, held annually in late January or early February based on the lunar calendar. While this can be a fascinating time to travel and experience this event, expect some shop closures and busier than usual local transport. Opening hours at some tourist sites may also be affected or closed. Although we make all reasonable efforts to avoid disruption, a flexible approach from the traveler is appreciated.

9. During the rainy months (approx. June to October), our mode of transport can be changed at short notice due to weather conditions.

Our family of five really enjoyed the tour. Having a knowledgeable Tour Guide to explain the culture and history of Vietand to manage all the logistics and chat that inevitably arise with such an ambitious itinerary felt like a real luxury and really enhanced the experience.

Had a great tour with our leader Bao in Vietnam. Even when the weather was doing its best to mess us around he came up with with a plan, discussed it & got agreement then changed it for the better, keeping us safe and continuing an awesome experience. Great culture, country, food and of course the people.

Intrepid Family Vietnam trip is simply the best family trip you can do. The trip takes you from the north (Hanoi) all the way to the south (Mekong Delta). The trip is thoughtfully planned out and not to busy so that all members of the family get something out of it while completely immersing you with the the local people and customs. Also our tour guide Win was just simply amazing throughout our whole trip. Thank you Intrepid we will be travelling with you again and again in the future.

Going on an Intrepid family trip takes the work and hassle out of all the organisation. For me in particular, having a pre-organised itinerary means that there are no arguments with my teenagers about what to do each day, because it is out of my hands! I also love the amount of free time built into the itinerary so that you can explore more or laze around more as the need takes us at every location. The icing on the cake is having a local leader who is so enthusiastic and knowledgable about their country - you can’t fail to feel educated and inspired by them.
