Trip Informations
Experience the extremes of southern Africa’s landscapes on this trip that travels from the thunderous Victoria Falls to cosmopolitan Cape Town, travel down lush waterways in the enigmatic Okavango Delta, cruise past elephants and birds on the Chobe River, climb giant sand dunes in Namibia, camp to the sounds of Africa's wildlife and spot big cats, rhinos, zebras and antelopes on Etosha National Park's arid plains. Visit the people who make their homes here, from mokoro polers on the delta to the San people of Namibia.
Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Glide through the lily pad-filled waterways of the Okavango Delta on a mokoro (a small dugout canoe) and escape civilisation with an overnight stay at your island camp.
verified
Be mesmerised by the staggering force and beauty of Victoria Falls, and experience firsthand why it’s known as the ‘smoke that thunders’ – a natural wonder that must be seen to be believed.
verified
Choose to take an optional cruise down the Chobe River for the opportunity to get up close (but not too personal) to cheetahs, crocodiles and the African elephant.
verified
Listen to the songs and stories of Namibia’s San people, the oldest inhabitants of southern Africa, and gain an insight into their traditional customs and beliefs.
verified
Enjoy a full-day game drive in Etosha National Park, home to a wide range of southern Africa's wildlife, including the endangered black rhino.

By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Tuuur Foundation partner, Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust. Donations help employ a team of Community Guardians who collaborate with locals to find sustainable solutions to human-wildlife conflict and conservation in Southern Africa.
Is this trip right for you?
verified
This is an overland trip. That means you’ll be travelling with a group in a purpose-built vehicle, visiting remote communities, setting up your own tent (unless you’re on an Original or Comfort style trip), occasionally roughing it in the bush with no facilities, and getting the best possible views of the Big Five. For more info on this style of travel, see our Africa overland page: https://www.tuuur.com/africa/overland https://www.tuuur.com/africa/overland (https://www.tuuur.com/africa/overland)
verified
As the early bird catches the worm, the early camper sights the animals. There will be many early starts either to make better use of the safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.

This trip far exceeded my expectations. More than incredible wildlife, we experienced fascinating history, culture and spectacular landscapes. The Okavango Delta was a highlight. Paul’s knowledge and professionalism were outstanding, while Nick’s delicious meals and John’s driving and humour made the journey unforgettable. An amazing experience 5/5

We absolutely loved this trip, such a variety of landscapes, animals and culture. Our crew, Paul, Nick and John, were all absolutely incredible and ensured we were safe and well fed (even as vegetarians). Would highly recommend, although bring your own sleeping bags as the Inrepid ones were too thin in July!

This trip was the most amazing experience i have ever had. The crew was so kind and knowledgeable and we learn so much about Africa and its people. The food cooked by our chef was so delicious. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. It is so incredible and so much better than you could ever imagine and you will create such a connection with the crew and the rest of the people on your tour. I will definitely be coming back to do another section of africa with intrepid!

A great trip, with an excellent itinerary - nearly every day was a highlight! Our crew (Stanley Mambo the Guide, Caleb the Chef, Kim the Driver) really made it special for us. We were so well looked after at all times and Caleb catered brilliantly for myself and my daughter with vegan diets.

My families experience of Intrepid during our recent trip to Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Sth Africa was everything we had hoped for and more. We felt safe the entire journey and importantly we felt that the intrepid crew were going out of their way to ensure we had the best possible experience. We'll be back

I thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone interested in covering all of the amazing highlights of Southern Africa. Every day brought a wonderful attraction with manageable distances; given the breadth of the countries covered. For those who don't enjoy camping there were upgrades to rooms/chalets most nights. However, all camp sites are safe and pleasant, and group dynamics are enhanced by staying in the tented areas.

Really amazing trip!!! The guide Dan was amazing!!! Saw so many animals, and learnt so much about the people and places. Loved every moment!!! I would say though if you travel in june it is bloody cold. I ended up buying an additional blanket, hot water bottle, fluffy socks and woolen gloves. It's cold not just at night but also when you are up early or late for a safari. That cold is no joke 🥶. Also really wish I had brought my hairdryer with me as when I washed my hair my head was so cold!!! Oh and the sleeping bags you can hire are very thin, I wish I had brought my own!!! I brought a sleeping mat with me that I never used as the ones they provide are perfectly good enough in my opinion and I also brought a mosquito net that I never used. Anywayyyyy don't let this put you off - just be better prepared than me 😅. The things I saw and the people I met were worth it a million times over!!!!
