The much-photographed Registan in Samarkand is one of the true pinnacles of Islamic architecture. You'll be wowed by the scale, grandeur and beauty of the monuments to iconic figures such as Tamerlane and the Persia-influenced madressas, mosques and mausoleums.

Central Asia is a fascinating and unique mix of ancient Silk Road culture, Soviet influence and striving to redefine nations post independence. Geographically and for a time historically, it is the real centre of Asia.
verified
Spend an evening in the isolated Kyzylkum Desert, warming yourself by the fire and sleeping in a yurt.
verified
Get to really know the stories and people of Uzbekistan while sharing home-cooked meals with local families, including a home stay in the remote Nuratau Mountains.

Central Asia is a remote destination, perfect for intrepid travellers in the true sense of the word! You will venture well away from cities, right off the beaten track and be able to immerse yourself in local food, life and culture.

Accommodation may on occasion be more basic than what you are used to in homestays, guesthouses and yurt stay. Shower and toilet facilities will be limited in some places and non existent in others. While the comfort level won't always be high, the rewards of living in true local style in this far-out part of the world are immeasurable.

As the trip only has limited time in Tashkent, we highly recommend staying a few extra days before or after your tour to enjoy all this great city has to offer
Itinerary
Tread the well-worn, yet rarely visited path of the Silk Road through Uzbekistan's ancient cities and desert landscapes.
Take an adventure through Uzbekistan, a country famous for its ancient Silk Road cities overflowing with mosques, mausoleums and mystery. Walk in the shadows of ancient, blue-tiled buildings, sleep in a yurt under thousands of desert stars and spend an evening at a home stay with a family in the Nuratau Mountains.

Uzbekistan is a vibrant blend of color, culture, and spirit. From stunning cities to serene mountains, every moment was inspiring. The food was delicious, the people incredibly kind, and with Timur’s guidance, the journey was unforgettable. A creative recharge I’ll always cherish, thank you, Uzbekistan!

This was my first time traveling with an organized tour group and I was pleasantly surprised. The other travelers in my group were great and I enjoyed sharing this experience with them, I learned so much about Uzbekistan from the local guide that I never would've been able to learn if I had traveled on my own, and the itinerary was really great. I highly recommend the Uzbekistan Adventure trip - starting in Bukhara was perfect and the break between cities with the yurt stay and homestay was really great. I recommend staying longer in Tashkent after the trip to get a better sense of the city (if you enjoy cities that is).

Our trip to Uzbekistan was absolutely fantastic! The visits, the landscapes, the desert, the sunshine, and the local hospitality made it an unforgettable experience. A special thanks to our guide, Hamza, who was truly amazing — with his passion, knowledge, and local stories he made us fall in love with the country and enriched every moment of the journey. Thank you Hamza !

This was my first Intrepid trip and joined a friend on a whim and it was UNBELIEVABLE. We had a perfect balance of comfort and adventure, boutique accomodation reflecting sacred cities and the yurt camp was magical.
Our guide, Richard, blew us away with his communication, organisation, patience and kindness.
I won’t stop beaming about this trip for years to come, thank you!

We had a fantastic time on this trip. The itinerary was great - we saw so much, a really variety of activities and also plenty of free time. Highlights were the yurt stay (incredible stargazing) and the following night staying with at the family home stay (tip - take books/pens etc for their lovely kids). We loved our guide Hamza, communication was great throughout and he dealt with any issues/itinerary changes really well.

This trip was perfect and so much more than expected , most people on the trip had used intrepid travel before which is a great endorsement and would highly recommend the company for a holiday like this and hope to use them again myself. I feel like I have been away for 3 months as have seen so much. The variety of activities was perfect and the free time meant we had time to relax which was important too. Overall this holiday was the most mind blowing and perfect trip I have ever been on and the group I was with have helped me to create some amazing memories and I look forward to booking another trip soon
