Trip Informations
Spend four days wandering the wildlife-filled stretches of Maria Island (Wukaluwikiwayna) on a guided and fully catered pack-carrying multi-day hike on one of the Great Walks of Australia. After ferrying from Tasmania’s east coast across the Mercury Passage, you’ll spend two days walking along the white sand and clear water beaches of the coast. Then, journey through cloud rainforests, up to the peak of Bishop and Clerk and over to the Fossil Cliffs, likely spotting furry friends and squawking birdlife between the eucalyptus trees. Enjoy nights spent sleeping at beach-side bush camps and a heritage-listed cottage while dining by candlelight on fresh local produce.
Why you’ll love this trip
Explore the many landscapes of Maria Island National Park, from fossilised cliffs and balmy beaches to cloud forests and the world-heritage area of Darlington.
Rest and recover from a day of hiking in exclusive bush camps and the historic Bernacchi House in Darlington.
Fall asleep to the sounds of lapping waves and the wilds of Tasmania during your two nights in open-air cabins set in forest right by the beach.
Dine by candlelight on three-course locally sourced gourmet meals prepped by your crew and accompanied by award-winning Tasmanian wines from local family-owned vineyards.
Search for the endemic wildlife found only in Tasmania’s remote island sanctuaries, including the pademelon, forester kangaroo, Flinders Island wombat and more.
