Trip Informations
Set out on a six-day adventure from Tasmania’s trendy capital, capes and coastlines to its ancient interiors and oldest townships. Discover UNESCO World Heritage listed national parks, from the coastal heath and sand dunes that meet the rainforest in Takayna/Tarkine to the glacier-sculpted terrain of Cradle Mountain. Stroll along Wineglass Bay in the shadow of Freycinet’s pink peaks and count the bright colours that make up the world-famous Bay of Fires. Go in search of the island’s unique endemic wildlife, from Tasmanian devils to fairy penguins and discover the freshest homegrown grapes and flavours of Tassie.
Why you’ll love this trip
Discover the beaches and historic blazes of the Bay of Fires – a stretch of coastline famous for the fiery orange lichen that clings to its boulder-clad beaches.
Walk to Cape Tourville Lighthouse for a panoramic view of Freycinet National Park’s landscape and watch as the waters lap the sands in the secluded bay.
Trek along walking trails in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain National Park – keeping an eye out for furry critters, including wombats and wallabies.
Explore the uninterrupted wilderness of Takayna/Tarkine on a guided walk through its prehistoric rainforest – alive with unique creatures and habitats not found anywhere else on earth.
Learn about the island’s remote biological species, from the Fagus tree to the Red-Bellied Pademelon, as you visit the lesser-visited regions of the state.

I had a wonderful time in Tasmania with a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide Kayla. It was my first time using Intrepid and I would highly recommend it. I liked the fact that the group sizes are small and that you can choose to not do certain activities if you want.

We did the 6 day tour of Tasmania with Jai as our tour guide. She was outstanding and we really enjoyed the walks through spectacular countryside. We were very lucky with the weather; it only rained once, on the last day. The accommodation was adequate rather than great.

This terrific tour shows you the beauty of the real Tasmania without any of the hassles of planning your own itinerary. Highly recommended for nature (and wine) lovers of average fitness.

It’s a great trip, especially if you’re new to multi day hiking. There were a couple of challenging options which tested my stamina and self-belief (eg Wineglass Bay). Our guide Kayla Hagan was fantastic; organised, great at problem solving, knowledgeable about the places we visited, and supportive.

This trip around Tasmania was great. Very well organised and the leader Tim was a great guy. Nothing was too much trouble and he was very knowledgeable. The other people on the tour were all lovely and we all got on very well. We saw some wonderful sights which I don't think you would have done if you were on your own and hired a car. The sense of shared experiences with the group was wonderful and we all swapped photos when someone had a great shot. Throughly enjoyed this trip.
