Why you’ll love this trip
Start your trip in Sydney – Australia's unofficial capital, home to the Harbour Bridge, a bustling CBD, heaps of cool restaurants and bars and of course, the Opera House!
Take a guided walkabout tour around The Rocks with a local Aboriginal guide who will teach you about local First Nations history, Dreaming and the spiritual connection to Country, while you soak in gorgeous harbour views.
Keep your eye out for kangaroos on your way to a wine tasting in the chilled-out Hunter Valley – a picturesque region in the rural hills of New South Wales – then take an easy hike through Crowdy Bay National Park.
Get in touch with Australia’s wilderness and wildlife. Meet cute and cuddly koalas at an animal hospital, look out for whales if the season is right and explore the rainforest and waterfalls in Dorrigo National Park.
Soak up the beachside vibes of Byron Bay with a free day in this surfer’s haven. Go for a dip in the ocean, take a kayaking tour, listen to buskers by the beach, join a yoga class or just hang loose in a quirky café.

Love Intrepid! This east coast Australia trip is my 5th one with them, I’m starting a 6th one to Egypt and Jordan in June and definitely looking forward to many more trips with intrepid. The guides really do go above and beyond to make sure we have an amazing time whilst staying safe and travelling in an eco-friendly and sustainable way. 100% recommend, so many wonderful friends made! 🧡

This trip was exactly what I was looking for as a solo traveler new to Australia. Small group, we had 8, off the beaten path itinerary and a rockstar tour guide Jeff who was given about a day to step in and lead the tour for his first time due to scheduled guide having a last minute injury. Jeff was super knowledgeable and very professional while making it a fun experience. Highlights included Koala Hospital, the rain Forrest, Red Rock First Nations guest and K’gtari island.

This was an excellent trip and Rach was brilliant. We were all part of a great team too which also helps. Lots of sightings of various wildlife during our tour which Rach was happy to call out to us.

This trip is a great way to get off the beaten path, and see some of the most stunning parts of the east coast in a short space of time. The First Nations tours and national parks we visited were inspiring, and we had the most awesome kayaking experience with Dolphins in Byron Bay. Our guide Carl was great, and nothing was to much trouble. Overall highly recommended!

The Sydney to Brisbane trip was a wonderful way to see the east coast highlights. There’s a lot of driving daily, but there’s no other way to do such a trip covering so much distance. All our stops were beautiful and the pace was managed well. Our guide Rach was amazing. She was so enthusiastic, gave us a lot of info, and importantly was also a great driver.
