Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Head out on multiple safaris in 4WDs through Wilpattu, Minneriya, Kumana and Yala National Parks, looking out for herds of native elephants, leopards, buffalo, deer, crocodiles, hundreds of species of birds and more.
Don infrared night goggles and witness sea turtles coming ashore at Rekawa beach to lay their eggs while hatchlings dash down to the water to start their new life.
Chill out beachside on Arugam Bay and soak up some free time to chill out, explore at your own pace and maybe go swimming.
Explore the biodiverse Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary, unique due to its three vastly different ecosystems – the coast, the mangroves and the freshwater tanks.
See the incredible site of Sigiriya – a UNESCO World Heritage site, this ruined fortress is one of Sri Lanka's most famous spots. Discover the ruins among thousands of birds, who thrive in the surrounding forests.
Is this trip right for you?
The summer months in Sri Lanka are very hot with short, sharp monsoons in the southwest of the country. Please consider your suitability to the time of year you wish to travel and be sure to use adequate sun protection and drink plenty of water.
The views from the top of Lion Rock in Sigiriya are spectacular, but getting there involves walking up uneven, narrow steps and navigating tight walkways. If you’ve got a fear of heights or conditions that affect mobility you may wish to sit this activity out.
Part of travelling with Tuuur means respecting local cultures and sensibilities. That way you get the most out of your interactions with local people and environments. Any temple visit in Sri Lanka requires a certain level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and trousers/skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.
The wild comes alive at sunrise, so there will be some early starts for Safaris. The thrill of spotting your first elephant or leopard is well worth the early start!

Amith (guide), Sam (driver) and Shan (assistant) were all excellent in their roles. Amith went above and beyond to cater for everyone’s expectations, including mine on the interesting avifauna of Sri Lanka. This mix of safaris and animal viewing opportunities, together with visits to cultural sites at Dambulla and Sigiriya was excellent. It was great to see the large herds of elephants in Kaudulla National Park. Overall, lots of thumbs up for this very enjoyable trip (5/5).

Cham was so friendly and knowledgeable. His enthusiasm for all the animals and wildlife, along with his knowledge of all the different types of animals we say, really enhanced my experience and made the trip 5/5

Our Sri Lanka wildlife tour was an absolute dream come true, largely thanks to our exceptional guide, Chammika! From the get-go, Chammika's passion for Sri Lanka's incredible biodiversity was infectious. His expertise transformed every excursion into an enlightening experience, spotting creatures we never thought we'd see. What truly set Chammika apart was his dedication to responsible tourism, ensuring we explored with minimal impact on the environment. He was attentive, patient, and always went the extra mile to cater to our interests. If you're seeking an unforgettable wildlife adventure in Sri Lanka, Chammika is undoubtedly the best guide you could ask for!
