Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Head out on multiple safaris in 4WDs through Wilpattu, Minneriya, Kumana and Yala National Parks, looking out for herds of native elephants, leopards, buffalo, deer, crocodiles, hundreds of species of birds and more.
Don infrared night goggles and witness sea turtles coming ashore at Rekawa beach to lay their eggs while hatchlings dash down to the water to start their new life.
Chill out beachside on Arugam Bay and soak up some free time to chill out, explore at your own pace and maybe go swimming, snorkelling or surfing.
Explore the biodiverse Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary, unique due to its three vastly different ecosystems – the coast, the mangroves and the freshwater tanks.
See the incredible site of Sigiriya – a UNESCO World Heritage site, this ruined fortress is one of Sri Lanka's most famous spots. Discover the ruins among thousands of birds, who thrive in the surrounding forests.
Is this trip right for you?
The summer months in Sri Lanka are very hot with short, sharp monsoons in the southwest of the country. Please consider your suitability to the time of year you wish to travel and be sure to use adequate sun protection and drink plenty of water.
The views from the top of Lion Rock in Sigiriya are spectacular, but getting there involves walking up uneven, narrow steps and navigating tight walkways. If you’ve got a fear of heights or conditions that affect mobility you may wish to sit this activity out.
Part of travelling with Tuuur means respecting local cultures and sensibilities. That way you get the most out of your interactions with local people and environments. Any temple visit in Sri Lanka requires a certain level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and trousers/skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.

This trip was absolutely incredible. The landscape and scenery are amazing. There was a perfect amount of safaris in the most beautiful parks and we were fortunate enough to see numerous animals including 6 Leopards. Some of the accommodations included breathtaking Ocean views. Sri Lanka is a hidden treasure and this trip covered so much of its beauty.

Amith was an excellent safari leader, managing people’s expectations and preferences. He was always approachable and available, going above and beyond. Some of the hotel choices on this trip could be improved. The safaris exceeded our expectations. We learned and experienced Sri Lankan culture. There are some long drives on this trip.

Absolutely incredible trip. Lots of early starts and long drives but totally worth it. I would never have seen so much if I had organised this trip myself. Hasantha, our guide was incredible!

Hasantha (guide), Asoka (driver), and Achinta (assistant) were excellent. Hasantha in particular was a wealth of knowledge and made the trip delightful. The trip was intense with basically no down time, but I feel I have seen a lot of Sri Lanka and its animals. Lots of sitting in a vehicle, but I enjoyed the trip. I will miss the delicious food.
