Kayak down the Gin River on a half day paddle through Sri Lanka’s ever-changing landscape. Float past forests, sandbanks and plantations while keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way.
Come face with one of Sri Lanka’s most storied sites as you hike to the ancient carved rock fortress of UNESCO World Heritage site – Sigiriya, which rises dramatically from the surrounding plains.
Hike through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Knuckles Mountain Range and encounter Sri Lanka's lush scenery and amazing biodiversity. Visit the observation point ‘Mini World’s End’ and see the sheer drop into the Thelgamuwa Valley and its forest floor below.
Cycle a mostly downhill route through the green heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country in ‘the Golden Valley of Ceylon’.
Get to know the layered history of Galle during a walking tour, uncovering the city’s maze of streets, historic buildings, lighthouse and the famed 17th-century fort.
By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Tuuur Foundation partner, World Bicycle Relief. Donations provide school kids, health workers, and farmers in far-out areas with bicycles that provide access to education, healthcare, and income.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip requires a good level of fitness to be able to enjoy the physical activities included.
While the activities are diverse, they are all run at a relaxed pace and do not require a high level of expertise/experience to participate in. All travellers will need to be competent swimmers to take part in the kayaking section of this trip.
The weather in this region varies seasonally. Be prepared to get sweaty, and for the occasional rainstorm which may require a change of plans. Drink plenty of water and remember a good quality hat and sun block.
Some temples on this trip require your head to be uncovered when visiting. You can opt out of temple visits if this requirement doesn't suit you.

Our adventure tour of Sri Lanka, by bike, by hike, and by kayak, was exceptional, largely due to Cham’s outstanding leadership. His deep knowledge of wildlife, history, environment, and politics, combined with his organisation, adaptability, kindness, and empathy, ensured we felt safe, supported, and fully able to embrace every part of the experience. Thank you Cham and Intrepid.

I definitely recommend this trip. We had a lot of amazing experiences in such a short time and I feel I got a great introduction to Sri Lanka. The accommodation was better than I expected, the food was delicious throughout and the activities were challenging but achievable and very rewarding. Cham was absolutely amazing. He was extremely well organised, his knowledge was completely on another level, he was funny and charming and everybody loved him!

This tour was absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately due to damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah our itinerary had to change but you would never have known. Our leader Cham was super insightful and we had a fantastic trip around the country. The itinerary is busy but I loved it and with a decent (but by no means athletic) level of fitness managed and enjoyed all activities. I would highly recommend this trip!

I lived this trip and can’t rate it enough. The varied landscapes, food and active activities made this unforgettable. If you don’t like camping, the outdoors and bring a little uncomfortable at times, this trip isn’t for you. The bike riding was the most challenging activity and if I had known I would have done a little more cycling before the trip but it is doable. Would love a trip like this but in another destination as I ticked all of the boxes I’m looking for when travelling.

This was a brilliant first trip to Sri Lanka!! Chami our guide was so lovely, knowledgeable and really accomodating when trying to book itinerary extras. You will need a good amount of fitness to do the cycling, but if in doubt book an e-bike!! The views are stunning and worth every pedal! I would recommend some good repellant, as there were quite a few leeches on our hike, but they do provide leech socks. The camping is basic but very clean. It was truly an unforgettable experience!

An amazing Sri Lanka adventure! Manjula was a fantastic guide – knowledgeable, caring, and funny. The group dynamic was great; as a solo traveller, I always felt included and had so much fun. Highlights included elephants, Sigiriya, and epic cycling – get fit beforehand! Early starts and windy camping aside, highly recommend!
