Kayak down the Gin River on a half day paddle through Sri Lanka’s ever-changing landscape. Float past forests, sandbanks and plantations while keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way.
Come face with one of Sri Lanka’s most storied sites as you hike to the ancient carved rock fortress of UNESCO World Heritage site – Sigiriya, which rises dramatically from the surrounding plains.
Hike through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Knuckles Mountain Range and encounter Sri Lanka's lush scenery and amazing biodiversity. Visit the observation point ‘Mini World’s End’ and see the sheer drop into the Thelgamuwa Valley and its forest floor below.
Cycle a mostly downhill route through the green heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country in ‘the Golden Valley of Ceylon’.
Get to know the layered history of Galle during a walking tour, uncovering the city’s maze of streets, historic buildings, lighthouse and the famed 17th-century fort.
By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Tuuur Foundation partner, World Bicycle Relief. Donations provide school kids, health workers, and farmers in far-out areas with bicycles that provide access to education, healthcare, and income.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip requires a good level of fitness to be able to enjoy the physical activities included.
While the activities are diverse, they are all run at a relaxed pace and do not require a high level of expertise/experience to participate in. All travellers will need to be competent swimmers to take part in the kayaking section of this trip.
The weather in this region varies seasonally. Be prepared to get sweaty, and for the occasional rainstorm which may require a change of plans. Drink plenty of water and remember a good quality hat and sun block.

Highly recommend this very active trip. All our needs was catered for. Our guide Prabarth & the crew were superb. Although many of us Aussies were familiar with leeches when hiking in Aus, gaitors were provided to combat any leeches while hiking. Also e-bikes were available to hire when booking. Overall a great adventure.

Sri Lanka, hike, bike and kayak in January 25. Fantastic trip, thoroughly enjoyed all aspects and Sam, our group leader really was superb; he loves his country and knew everything about it! We particularly loved our adventures off the beaten track and away from other tourists – Sams ‘snacks’ were one of the highlights, we would never have eaten such food without his expert guidance. Sams team on the bus were excellent, particularly the careful, driving, and we loved Garmini, the local guide in the knuckles mountains, who welcomed us into his home. Thoroughly recommend, our fellow travellers were all lovely people

All expectations were fulfilled. It is a whirl-wind introduction to Sri Lanka and some of its main sights, combined with some physical activity. They are not very hard in them selves, it is the temperature levels that are the problem. I would have droppet the Kandy to Hatton train-ride for more time to enjoy Castlereigh or go up to Adams Peak. Pro tip: if guide is Nilanga and he suggests arranging dinner in Kandy - say yes.

One of the best tours I’ve had! Such a great mixture of cultural activities and active elements. The bike riding was a personal favourite for me. All the food was incredible especially when cooked by local families. Our tour guide Manjula was also wonderful and gave us a great insight into Sri Lanka.

This Intrepid tour was a great way to start our adventures in Sri Lanka. The tour leader Shihan was exceptional and was always happy to answer any question to help us understand the culture, customs, cuisine and way of life in Sri Lanka. The hiking, biking and kayaking was rewarding and challenging enough to still enjoy the surroundings and spectacular views of tea plantations, rice fields, amazing mountain ranges, villages and waterways. I would recommend this tour if you are looking for a great introduction to Sri Lanka with a bit of adventure thrown in and visiting some of the main highlights that Sri Lanka has to offer.
