Though its equatorial position means constant year-round temperatures, the summer months in Sri Lanka are very hot with short, sharp monsoons in the south-west of the country. Please consider your family’s suitability to the season you wish to travel in.

We visit several temples on this trip and all members of your family will need to have clothes that cover from wrist to below the knee to access them. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.

1. Some travellers have reported being approached by locals offering excursions before their Tuuur trip commences. This has been particularly prevalent in and around the hotels used by Intrepid. These guides are in no way connected to Tuuur and we cannot guarantee the safety or quality standards of their tours. We advise customers against joining any tour offered by the unauthorised guides.
2. A single supplement is available if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement applies to all nights of your trip and is subject to availability. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.
3. The trip begins with an important welcome meeting at 5pm. There are no activities planned for the final day and you are able to depart the accommodation at any time.
4. These trips are for adults and children travelling together and there must be at least one child under 18 with you in order to book.
5. Minimum age for children on this trip is 5 years old.
6. Please provide your full name and passport number exactly as it appears on your passport at the time of booking (including any middle names listed on your passport). If we do not receive your passport details in time, we cannot guarantee your train journey. Fees may apply for adding or amending details within 45 days of departure, and in some cases, you will be required to cover the cost of issuing a new ticket. Train tickets are in very high demand in Sri Lanka. We always try our best to secure tickets, but if we cannot book them, you will continue your journey by private vehicle.

Our family loved our Intrepid tour of Sri Lanka. It was so relaxing as a parent and our whole family had a fantastic time. We loved every minute and it completely exceeded our expectations of a family tour. We will certainly travel on an Intrepid family tour again.

We did an amazing family tour of Sri Lanka. The itinerary was excellent as we as a family really enjoyed the experiences and activities the tour offered. Our tour guide Prabarth was outstanding with his passion and enthusiasm about his country really made our trip and gave us I real understanding about the culture of Sri Lanka. Such an amazing trip and one we will have lots of memories to remember of.

We had an absolutely amazing teip thanks to our thoughtful guide Prabarth, who always checked with adults and kids if everybody is fine and adjusting here and there within the planned itinerary.

This was a fabulous trip. Our 7 yo was challenged at times, but both he and his 9 yo brother loved it (as did mum and dad). Having travelled in Sri Lanka independently previously, this was 10x better being with a group.

Excellent tour, very well paced for my family. Viraj was a fantastic guide, very accommodating and knowledgeable. Fantastic way to see Sri Lanka with like minded families. Would recommend. Only negative was the Intrepid trip kitty guidance was understated vs the expectation on the trip.

We have just returned from Sri Lanka with an amazing group of families. Our family of five have all fallen in love with the country - the culture, food, beaches, train ride, elephants (the list could go on) were all incredible. Big thanks to our amazing leader Asanga.
