Though its equatorial position means constant year-round temperatures, the summer months in Sri Lanka are very hot with short, sharp monsoons in the south-west of the country. Be sure to use adequate sun protection and drink plenty of water.

Some temples on this trip require your head to be uncovered when visiting. You can opt out of temple visits if this requirement doesn't suit you.

1. Some Travellers have reported being approached by locals offering excursions before their Tuuur trip commences. This has been particularly prevalent in and around the hotels used by Intrepid. These guides are in no way connected to Tuuur and we cannot guarantee the safety or quality standards of their tours. We advise customers against joining any tour offered by the unauthorised guides.

2. A single supplement is available on this trip and is valid for all nights on tour.

3. The Perahera Festival is a 10 day period of evening processions to honour the Sacred Tooth, which is enshrined at Kandy's Temple of the Tooth. Each night features thousands of perfomers, including dancers, drummers, and a parade of more than 50 decorated elephants. Due to Intrepid's stance on elephant cruelty we do not visit the Perahera Festival and cannot purchase tickets on your behalf.

4. Please provide your full name and passport number exactly as it appears on your passport at the time of booking (including any middle names listed on your passport). If we do not receive your passport details in time, we cannot guarantee your train journey. Fees may apply for adding or amending details within 45 days of departure, and in some cases, you will be required to cover the cost of issuing a new ticket. Train tickets are in very high demand in Sri Lanka. We always try our best to secure tickets, but if we cannot book them, you will continue your journey by private vehicle.

I'm a local, so I thought I knew my own backyard, but this trip with Intrepid Trip showed me a whole new side of things! Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic - knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and made the whole experience seamless. From the food to the activities, everything was well-planned and executed. I was blown away by how much I learned and the memories I made. Highly recommend Intrepid Trip and especially our amazing guide!

I highly recommend this trip! We got to see and do so much in a short time. It was especially nice to visit lesser travelled areas and spend time at local homes. Niranjala was an excellent tour leader and ensured the group had a fun and safe trip.

The intrepid tour to Sri Lanka was one to remember. From the minute our group left Negombo, we knew we were in for a spectacular series of experiences. Our guide brought high energy and a huge wealth of knowledge to the tour and we were exposed to culture, history, and spirituality in ways that we never imagined. The memories still feel very tangible.

I'd highly recommend an Intrepid tour. My tour of Sri Lanka had it all - small group, great activities, great Intrepid team, culture, great, chance to meet local people and nice places to stay! And to top it off elephants in the wild!

Highly recommended to any traveller wanted to expirience true colours of Sri Lanka. its natural beauty, friendly people and history. It was an eye opener for me and my wife for this country. We did have some objection before going on this trip abut were pleasently surprised and willing to spread good vibes on this country and organisers and staff.
