Trip Informations
Take off on an unforgettable journey down Italy’s rarely visited heel, getting to know another side of this beautiful country. See the beauty of Amalfi, unwind in style among the sophisticates of Trani and tour the Roman ruins, baroque churches and whitewashed alleyways of Lecce. Wander among the peculiarly shaped houses of Alberobello, wander the hillside dwellings of Matera and discover the Old Town’s life surrounding Bari's Basilica di San Nicola. Head down and say ciao to Italy’s southernmost slice of the Adriatic.

Please keep your luggage as small and light as possible. You'll be travelling on public transport where storage space is limited. You'll need to be able to lift your luggage into storage racks, walk across cobblestone streets with it and carry it up and down stairs.
verified
Due to the terrain the means of transportation on this trip is a mix of local trains, private vehicles and public buses. Train travel is a fast way to traverse long distances, allowing you to avoid traffic jams and arrive right into the city centre. Trains are comfortable and all have toilets, however can often be quite busy.

Summer temperatures can be extreme in many of the regions visited (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Additionally, please be aware that July, August and the first half of September is high season along the Southern Italian coast, which means that the local infrastructure is under a lot of pressure with a lot of people in the towns we visit. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
verified
Hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together.

If you have more time to explore the region you can extend your trip and see more of Italy by starting your travels in Rome. Check out our trip 'Rome to Southern Italy' (trip code ZMSSC). Most departure dates are designed to create this perfect combination trip.

Great trip, especially loved Trani but everywhere we went was so different and unusual. Maurizio was a great leader and fellow travelling companions made the trip

This trip just got better day by day as we travelled through the different towns, such an awesome part of Italy, although the weather was super hot, we were able to enjoy the amazing architecture and fabulous food of the region, well worth a visit!

Puglia was an interesting and fascinating region of Italy. Cecelia shared her love of Italy and the food with us. She always made sure the restaurants we went to served local foods. The local guides we had in Lecce Dino and Matera Sara were knowledgeable in the extreme. We didn’t know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised.

Thile S. Italy - Puglia trip (8 days of travel) offered variety - historical, architectural, landscape, - I especially enjoyed the olive farm visit. I oils have liked it to be 1-2 days longer, to explore a bit further afield

This trip was wonderful as we visited many beautiful towns that aren’t well known and weren’t so crowded. What I really appreciated was very few early morning departures and more than enough free time so the schedule was very relaxing as you want a vacation to be.

This was a great exploration of the Puglia region. Such diversity and beauty. Salvatore did a wonderful job managing the tour, making sure all needs were met, despite a very disparate to group.

Highly recommend this tour to a lesser known region of Italy. Amazing, unique UNESCO cities and sites. Great food and good local wine at very reasonable prices.

A fabulous trip, took us to very different places with different experiences. Amazing history associated with the area and had the opportunity to stay in some unique dwellings. Highly recommend this trip to see a different side of Italy.

As a first time solo traveller I found this tour so great, our group were all in an appropriate age range, and thankfully we all just clicked and got on so well. The tour covered all of the highlights of the region, our tour guide Marco was excellent. Highly recommend.
