Trip Informations
Experience India's cityscapes and coastline on this epic 26-day adventure from north to south. Throw yourself into the thrilling pace of life in Rajasthan, then slow it down in the beautiful Kerala Backwaters and beachy Goa. Hit all the must-sees with a guided tour of the Taj Mahal, a rickshaw ride through Old Delhi and a visit to the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur, plus veer off the beaten track with overnight stays at a 16th-century palace in the village of Tordi Garh and a homestay in the Kerala Backwaters. Travel like a local with overnight trains to Agra and Mysore and have an array of exciting optional activities at your fingertips, all under the expert guidance of a local leader.
Why you’ll love this trip
See the spectacular Taj Mahal – one of the New Seven Wonders of the World – during a guided tour that illuminates the building’s fascinating history.
Get to know the chaotic capital of Delhi with a local leader to help you navigate. Take a cycle rickshaw ride through the city’s bustling streets and visit the Sheeshganj Gurudwara to learn about Sikhism.
Glide through the backwaters of Kerala on an optional pole boat ride, going ashore for a village stay – a scenic break from hotels and a perfect way to get close to local customs and culture.
Make the most of a flexible itinerary with all the best recommendations from your local leader. Wile away the afternoons on the beach, visit nearby temples or uncover local culture at the museums.
Discover the golden beaches and age-old fishing villages that make Goa one of India’s most popular retreats – and a perfect place to consider extending your adventure.
Is this trip right for you?
This is a trip made for travellers who value their independence but also want the benefit of a local leader and a group of like-minded travellers. The itinerary has a mix of included activities and free time where your leader will offer suggestions you can take or leave. Please budget spending money for optional activities and transport to and from them.
We are covering a lot of distance in a vast country, so this trip involves some early starts and long train rides. Sleeper trains are a quintessential Indian travel experience. They’re a great way to travel long distances and maximise your time in each place. You’ll be travelling alongside locals, as well as Tuuur travellers, in a compartment of mixed genders. You’ll find more details about the experience in the Accommodation section of the Essential Trip Information, or you can read more about it here: https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/india-trains-guide/ . https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/india-trains-guide/ (https://www.tuuur.com/adventures/india-trains-guide/)
The regions visited on this trip can be extreme in temperature. It’s important to prepare for hot temperatures during the day and cooler climates in the evening. Rajasthan, in particular, can be very hot, especially in the summer. Light layers are the best way to be prepared for changeable weather.
Part of travelling with Tuuur means respecting local cultures and sensibilities. For temple visits on this trip, you will need to wear clothes that cover the arms and pants or skirts that go past the knees.
We've sourced our accommodation carefully and picked the best possible hotels in line with the Tuuur style of travel. Service and accommodation in India may be different from Western standards.
