Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Join Bedouin locals at a desert camp in Wadi Rum for a night of traditional hospitality, good food and starry skies. You’ll learn about the Bedouin way of life and fall asleep to the silence of the desert.
verified
Spend a whole day uncovering the majesty and history of Petra – one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Follow your local leader down the narrow path of Siq for your first glimpse of the hand-carved Treasury.
verified
Explore two of ancient Egypt’s landmark sights – the Pyramids of Giza (one of the Ancient Wonders of the World) and the Sphinx – up close, walking among icons that have stood on the desert edge for more than 4500 years.
verified
Wander through one of the world’s great collections of ancient artefacts at the Grand Egyptian Museum – see treasures from Tutankhamun’s tomb, including his gilded sarcophagi and the famous golden death mask.
verified
Visit Luxor’s ancient landmarks, exploring the richly decorated tombs of the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Dendera, while your expert leader adds local insight along the way.
Is this trip right for you?
verified
There is quite a bit of walking involved in visiting Egypt and Jordan's historic sites, so a reasonable level of fitness and comfortable shoes are required. There is often little to no shade, so expect to be exposed to the elements at length, and be prepared with a hat, sunscreen and plenty of fluids.
verified
Your desert camp stay in Wadi Rum may be simple, but it’s an incredible experience. There are tents and shared Western bathroom facilities. Please be aware that while the desert may be very hot during the day, it will still be cool at night, so warm clothes and a sleeping bag are highly recommended – especially when travelling outside of the summer months.
verified
Some hotels in Egypt may not have lifts, so on occasion you may need to climb stairs with your luggage to reach your room.
verified
The temperatures in Egypt and Jordan can reach all extremes. Please familiarise yourself with the weather norms in the season you wish to travel.
verified
The Aqaba to Taba ferry travels across the Gulf of Aqaba. It is a long travel day, but is the easiest way to travel between the two destinations. Your leader in Jordan will assist you until you reach the Aqaba port and you will be greeted by your new leader once you've crossed the border in Egypt. If you do experience sea sickness, please take appropriate precautions for the journey. This journey can often be held up due to scheduling or weather conditions.

This trip is for travellers who appreciate a bit of independence. You’ll get plenty of free time in each location to make your own choices, do your own activities and eat where you like. Your leader is always there to give you tips and suggestions.
verified
Overnight train journeys are a fast way to cross long distances, better for the environment and a great travel experience. You will share two-berth, air-conditioned cabins, with all bedding provided and western-style toilets on board.
verified
The optional sunrise hike to the summit of Mt Sinai is best suited to those with a reasonable level of hiking experience and fitness. As the hike takes place before dawn, you’ll want to bring a headlamp for the walk in the dark.
