Trip Informations
On this 15-day tropical adventure, snorkel over colourful coral reefs teeming with wildlife and plunge into waterholes below hidden waterfalls. Starting in Samoa, spend time learning about local culture and village life. Take fully guided day tours around two islands and enjoy free time to relax and unwind. Spend two nights in a fale (traditional waterfront villa), falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves and experiencing traditional fire dancing and feasting. Then, take on an active escapade in gorgeous Fiji! Weave through the jungle to waterfalls, lush highlands and remote villages. Uncover the Fijian way of living off the land with village visits and sacred ceremonial customs, hike over sand dunes, raft through Fiji’s volcanic rock interior and go snorkelling on Nananu-i-Ra Island. This is paradise!
Why you’ll love this trip
Visit the gorgeous sandy beaches of Vavau and Lalomanu and go snorkelling and swimming at the Giant Clam Sancturary, teeming with starfish, tropical fish and coral.
Discover Samoan culture through storytelling and legend – visit Fafa o Sauali'i (the Passage of the Afterlife), Giant Moso's Footprint, the Star Mounds (one of Samoa’s most sacred places) and the remains of the Virgin's Grave.
Immerse yourself in local culture and be treated to song, dance and performance – you'll attend a Fa’ataupati (slap dance) and enjoy a fire knife dancing night. Then, attend a church service followed by a traditional Sunday feast.
Get your pulse racing as you raft through the heart of Fiji’s highlands at Upper Navua Gorge and take the plunge with a swim at one of Fiji’s most picture-perfect waterfalls in Nabalasere.
Travel consciously – this trip works with local operators who are part of the Duavata Collective, focused on sustainable tourism that respects and celebrates local Fijian cultures and environments.
Is this trip right for you?
Some of the best scenery in Fiji is found on hikes. So, while this trip doesn't require a high level of fitness, it’s essential that you’re at least moderately fit and able to hike regularly if you want to partake in all activities.
There are some water-based activities included in this trip. You will get the most out of this trip if you are a competent and confident swimmer. If you are not so confident, we recommend that you bring a life jacket from home to allow you to still participate safely. All travellers will need to be competent swimmers to take part in the rafting section of this trip.
As this trip focuses on visiting less explored parts of Fiji, there is limited beach time on our itinerary. If you are interested in more of a classic Fiji experience, we recommend staying for a few extra days before or after your trip to enjoy the beaches and snorkelling in the Mamanuca or Yasawa Islands, which are a boat ride away from Nadi.
Part of travelling with Tuuur means respecting local cultures and sensibilities. Please be aware of cultural considerations when entering and staying in local villages. Your trip leader and local guides will assist you with local etiquette.
As we stay in some locations where there are few options for eating out, some meals may be set menus rather than being able to choose from a variety of options.
The accommodation for this trip is not at luxury beach resorts, but is at simple, comfortable locally owned accommodation. Hot water may not be consistently available, so you should expect some cold showers. Wi-fi is also not widely accessible, and a local SIM will need to be purchased to have consistent internet access. Some accommodation options have limited numbers of different room types, so not everyone may have the same room style.
