Trip Informations
Take a trip to paradise and climb aboard a traditional dhoni boat for a sailing trip through the Maldives. On this eight-day getaway, you’ll spend your days sailing, swimming and snorkelling among colourful corals, white-sand beaches, mangroves and tropical fish. Maybe see dolphins, turtles, manta rays and nurse sharks and watch the gorgeous sunsets to end each day of bliss. Have tea and locally made sweets with the locals on tiny islands, be treated to a traditional music and dance performance after dinner on the beach and learn how to make Madivian cuisine with a cooking demonstration and breakfast. With a local crew and leader by your side, you’ll be sure to see all the best bits of island living!
Why you’ll love this trip
Soak up the beauty of bright blue waters, white sands, palm trees and marine life with one full week cruising aboard a private, traditional dhoni in the Maldives.
Swim and snorkel every day with tropical fish by your side – you might even be lucky enough to swim with manta rays, stingrays, triggerfish, turtles, reef sharks and nurse sharks – the Maldives is home to the biggest population in the world!
Snorkel at Biyaadhoo Reef to see the resident green turtles and schools of red-tooth triggerfish and bannerfish. Explore the colourful coral garden near Maafushi, with its beautiful drop off full of tabletop corals and oriental sweetlips.
Be treated to fresh, local Maldivian cuisine with a cooking demonstration where you’ll learn how to make traditional mas huni and Maldivian tuna curry. Then, have tea at a small, locally owned cafe.
Enjoy a beachside dinner with traditional East African Bodu Beruand Langiri folk music, and dance with the locals as the sun goes down, moving to the beat of the drums.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip is aboard a traditional dhoni (a traditional wooden motor sailing boat). All cabins have twin bunk beds and will have ensuite bathrooms, are on the lower deck. It’s recommended that you pack light, as cabins are cosy.
All cabins will experience a light engine noise when the ship is moving (and occasionally when you drop anchor). It’s probably worth packing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.
The majority of this trip takes place on a sailing boat and need to feel comfortable moving about the vessel, including the use of stairs. With that said, sea legs come naturally to some but not so much for others – it's recommended that you bring sea sickness medication just in case.
A good swimming ability is essential on this trip to enjoy all activities.
Time on the water also means time in the sun. Remember to pack sun protection, such as sunscreen and a hat, and drink plenty of water to keep hydrated. See ‘Essential Trip Information’ below for a full packing list.

Book this trip! A really special time with fun new friends, the wonderful Hassan and the amazing Kethi crew (Shante, Vijay, Jambe and Rahin). Delicious vegetarian food options. Incredible sunrises/sunsets. Friendly sea creatures. And plenty of time in the water. Huge thank you to staff for their care, expertise and generosity. I loved this trip and the people so much. I cried when I got off the boat! 6/5 stars 🌟

This was the most incredible summer holiday I’ve been on. The best way to explore the Maldives via island hopping and doing all the wonderful activities the Maldives has to offer. Not to mention how amazing the crew were. Hasan always had such a wonderful attitude and his knowledge was impeccable and was always willing to do whatever it took to make us feel comfortable and happy. Coco was incredible to with always being on the ball with having everything organised. VJ was a magician in the kitchen and made the most delicious meals. We were definitely well fed. Shante was a great captain and a fish guru/ whisperer during every snorkel. Can’t recommend this trip enough. Id do it every week if I could.

Kethi, a well-maintained converted dhoni particularly suited for water activities, particularly snorkelling. A fantastic crew led by skipper Shantal, runabout skipper Jambay, deckhand Coco, barman and rouseabout Libee, and chef Veejay, who has been with Voyages Maldives for 18 years. Veejay's meals in abundance and delicious.

This Maldivian cruise was amazing! The water, the fish, the turtles, and the sharks were just amazing. The crew on the boat, the Captain, the Chef and Hassan our fabulous tour guide, were outstanding. I would say I had a SURREAL experience and thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful holiday. If this is on your bucket list, then you must do it!

I could not fault this week of absolute fantastic experiences, I wanted to see and swim with Skarks, Sting Rays & Manta rays. I did all and much much more. The crew was simply on point and amazing from making sure we got the most from all our activities, safely and inclusively. The captain was professional and a master of his boat, never did any one of us doubt his ability, Hasan our tour leader, was the perfect example of a true, genuine, passionate proffesional, it was his ability to read the group, the weather and situation and make sure we were all enjoying ourselves safely. The Chef, well how can I put it, but amazing, how he served all the dishes over 8 days and not one bad one, tasty, fresh, varied. Since our return, our group have maintained contact, and we all miss our amazing experience, that speaks volumes for this experience. The other guests all got on so well with one another, we all left as good friends. Thank you Hasan, The captain, Chef & crew. Would love to see you all again. Silvio

An unforgettable Maldives experience. Living on the water was deeply calming, with daily snorkelling, comfortable air‑conditioned cabins, and stunning marine life. Our guide’s incredible knowledge brought the destination to life. Relaxing, enriching, and beautifully immersive — I could have stayed forever.
