Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Take a memorable kayak along the Nile with a unique active experience, paddling through ancient landscapes.
verified
Witness some epic sights in Cairo, like the mysterious Sphinx and one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Great Pyramids of Giza. Maybe even learn how to spell your name in hieroglyphics!
verified
Sleep under the stars at a Bedouin-style camp in Wadi Rum with all the creature comforts, waking for a stunning sunrise and a thrill-seeking 4WD adventure.
verified
Only Petra’s Treasury – one of the Seven Wonders of the World – is stunning enough to be the temple of the Holy Grail. Your pass to this sacred site lasts two full days so that you can explore every nook and cranny at your own pace.
verified
See the lowest point on earth – the Dead Sea – and float in its famously salty waters, soaking up its healing minerals and lathering yourself in the rejuvenating mud (if the mood strikes).
Is this trip right for you?

Temperatures can be very hot in Summer, so we recommend a good hat, sunscreen and long sleeves to shade you from those rays. It’s not all hot desert days, as the winter months (December to February) can be quite cold. In Jordan, temperatures in northern parts of the country can drop to freezing overnight. Pack smart to prepare you for varying temperatures if travelling during these months.
verified
The terrain at some historic sites can be rocky and steep. Solid walking shoes are essential, plus anything to shade you from those rays – a hat, sunscreen and long sleeves. If you don't feel up to it on a hot day, you can decide to not take part, or wander at your own pace.
verified
This trip includes the adventure of overnight train travel, one of the most unique ways to wake up in a new and strange place. You’ll get a small bed and air conditioning in a shared room, but the train might not be as clean as you’re used to.
verified
You’re the boss on this trip. There’s loads of free time to do whatever you want or optional activities to show you the way. Maybe budget a little extra cash for activities that aren’t included.
Itinerary
See not one, but two Wonders of the World on an exploration of Egypt and Jordan
Tick off some bucket list icons on this epic 15-day adventure through Egypt and Jordan – both home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Start strong at the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx in Cairo then wander through the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. Eat some koshari in a local downtown joint and explore a bazaar where you can meet with a perfume merchant. Kayak along the Nile, spend a night on a traditional felucca under starry skies and drink your body weight in mint tea. Find hidden bars and delicious falafel in Amman then hike through Wadi Rum, where you’ll watch the sunrise and explore the land in a 4WD. Witness the awe-inspiring site of Petra and soak away your worries in the Dead Sea. With all these epic sites and a small group of new friends to share it all with, what are you waiting for?

This was nothing less than the trip of a lifetime. Jordan was a stunning and beautiful country with amazing sites, friendly people and a wonderful culture. Exploring Petra especially was a humbling and fantastic experience that I will never forget.
Our tour guide Mohammad was not only a kind, friendly and genuinely lovely person, but also professional, informative, organised and kept us safe and made us feel safe for the entire trip.
He went above and beyond to make my trip amazing and he also went out of his way to arrange a cake to be made for my birthday which I celebrated when on the trip. He was a perfect tour guide and I could not have asked for or wanted a more amazing guide.

This was honestly a perfect trip, I would come to Jordan again and bring friends because this was truly a brilliant experience. The knowledge I learnt and the experiences I had I really want to share! I did the Egypt and Jordan trip together and both were excellent. I just wish there was one day in the middle of each one for rest, an extra day in Amman would have been amazing!

Real Egypt. An absolutely brilliant trip. Our tour leader Hazim was amazing throughout and gave us fantastic tips, advice and guidance. The excursions offered were very good, although many of these are not included so your budget will need to be more than you think. The felucca was also a real highlight

They went above and beyond to create the best experience. Mizo truly was an exceptional guide, learned so much while challenging myself both with meeting new people and places but with new activities and foods. Highly recommend

This was a fantastic trip! Fast paced, but I learned so much and ate way too much humus! It can be very chilly in December especially in Wadi Rum. I felt very safe. Intrepid helped make all of the COVID testing very easy!

This trip was incredible. There was something magical about traveling with people all the same age. In Egypt, the trip was jam-packed. The optional activities didn't really feel optional, and they were significantly more expensive than the itinerary states. Our guide Mizo was amazing and made me feel like I didn't have to worry about anything. As someone who once left an 8 day sailing trip 3 days in because I couldn't handle the accommodations, I was nervous about the sleeper train and felucca. Both turned out to be trip highlights. I was happy to have a guide and group in Egypt. I don't think I would have enjoyed it if I had tried to travel there solo. In Jordan, things were slower paced than Egypt. I was nervous about the camping, but it was another highlight. There were quality toilets and showers - with hot water! It was cold, but they provided enough blankets to bundle up. The Dead Sea temperature was fine even when we were wearing coats the rest of the day. I felt more comfortable wandering Jordan alone, but I was still glad to have the group to explore with and our guide to coordinate things so I didn't have to. Overall, this trip was amazing. It felt like a hostel day trip that lasted 2 weeks more than it felt like a group tour.

This trip was one of the best trips I´ve ever done. Egypt and Jordan are two beautiful countries with so much to see and explore. However, even though my experience was delightful, I feel obligated to be honest about the intrepid experience as a whole, hence, I will give two different reviews, one for Egypt and one for Jordan.
Egypt: 2 star review - There were many issues related to our trip to Egypt, starting with the accommodations, which in the "trip essentials" document is mentioned that they are not luxurious (which is perfectly fine) but they are supposed to be clean. Unfortunately that was not the case. The 2 overnight trains were not a good experience, the sheets were dirty, the toilets were filthy, and the food was awful. The other hotels were "okay", however, they were not very clean, we had some issues with the water and the service as well. Also, the included meals were mostly "meal boxes" which contained packed foods, which is why the entire group had to spend extra money on buying additional meals to fulfill our included meals. Also, the included activities were overpriced, the prices mentioned in the document ARE NOT REAL, they basically mention the entrance fee, but when you want to pursue the activity, it will cost at least double or 3x more. I want to be very clear that I leave our tour guide out of this comment, because we has EXCELLENT in every single way.
Jordan: 5 star review - this was definitely the highlight of our trip. The Wadi Rum dessert was spectacular and all the accommodations were very clean, which made our stay very comfortable. The food was very good, we had plenty of traditional meals and we never got a "box meal". I really enjoyed it!
Overall I must say that our group and tour guides made my trip so special despite the issues we had in Egypt, I fully recommend making this trip as a solo traveler, because you will be able to meet wonderful people and enjoy two delightful countries.
