Ditch your alarm in the spiritual capital of Varanasi – there’s only one way to wake up here and that’s with a sunrise sail along the Ganges. Maybe indulge in some yoga or meditation after and keep the good vibes going.
verified
See the majestic Taj Mahal – one of the famed Seven Wonders of the World. This may be one of the most recognisable buildings on Earth, but do you know its poetic history? Don’t worry, a local expert will fill you in.
verified
Spend some time in rural Tordi, away from the tourist trail, and stay in an 18th-century palace, enjoy a homecooked dinner from your host and explore the nearby ruined temple and fortress.
verified
Fall asleep to the calls of the jungle in Chitwan National Park, then embark on a safari in search of rhinos, deer, monkeys, tigers and a wide array of bird life.
verified
Indulge in Delhi-cious street food and immerse yourself in the colourful chaos of India’s capital city – from chicken tikka to vegetarian curries, your local leader will know all the best lunch and dinner spots.

This trip involves travel on public transport covering large distances, meaning some long travel days. Long-distance and overnight trains can often be delayed and occasionally cancelled due to heavy fog between December and February. Some patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment here. Sit back, relax and watch the scenery go by (a book or podcast won't hurt either).

Weather in India and Nepal can be very hot in summer and surprisingly cold in winter, so please pack accordingly so you aren't caught out! Check seasonal weather guides and pick a travel time that suits your comfort level.

This trip is a great way to see a lot in a short period of time and it can be part of a longer itinerary if you have more time to explore. You might like to check out Epic India to Nepal.

Couldn’t recommend this trip enough for someone who wants a real taste and taster of India and Nepal. Usually a very confident solo traveller, there’s no way I could’ve navigated India on my own without the tour and our leader Ruchi!

Wow! Such an amazing first trip to India and Nepal lead by the equally amazing, Pratibha (Pratzzy)! We were so lucky to have a leader that went above and beyond for us and supported us every step of the way. Intrepid is lucky to have her!
The itinerary includes a diverse range of locations and is well paced for the large distance covered.
Accommodation is as expected for a Basix
style trip - clean comfortable but nothing too fancy. Make sure you throughly read all information provided to ensure you have the right expectations!

I joined this trip as a female solo traveller and had a fantastic time. Our guide Garima was excellent and I would highly recommend this trip to anyone. When packing - take lots of layers! It was a lot warmer than expected, visited late Jan/Feb.

This trip was so enjoyable, full on (in a good way) and for sure a culture shock. We were so lucky with the group we had and our leader was knowledgable and enthusiastic! ADVICE: If travelling in January bring thermals! Jackets, hats, gloves…. the lot, especially for evenings out and in the hotel room as most rooms were freezing. Also bring face masks as pollution is horrendous!

From seeing the Taj Mahal to touching an elephant on New Year’s Day during the Safari, this is a bucket list trip for sure. I cannot recommend this trip enough! We lucked out with our incredible leader, Shubhi, who was nothing short of amazing and ensured our trip was a memorable one.

The trip was fantastic - really eye-opening and a great whistle-stop tour of such interesting and diverse countries. I’d say the tour isn’t for the faint-hearted as you’re thrown head first into India and there are some long travel days. However the payback is worth it. Nepal provides some much-needed calm at the end.
