Trip Informations
Head from bustling Delhi to remote Tordi on this 13-day adventure through India and Nepal. Get down and dirty with the best street food, gape at one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Taj Mahal – cruise down the holy Ganges in Varanasi, hang in Buddha’s hometown (Lumbini), search for sloth bears and rhinos at Chitwan National Park and finish up in colourful Kathmandu. With incredibly delicious food (naan bread, anyone?), spiritual significance and culture that’s waiting to be explored, what’s your excuse for not taking the adventure of a lifetime.
Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Ditch your alarm in the spiritual capital of Varanasi – there’s only one way to wake up here and that’s with a sunrise sail along the Ganges. Maybe indulge in some yoga or meditation after and keep the good vibes going.
verified
See the majestic Taj Mahal – one of the famed Seven Wonders of the World. This may be one of the most recognisable buildings on Earth, but do you know its poetic history? Don’t worry, a local expert will fill you in.
verified
Spend some time in rural Tordi, away from the tourist trail, and stay in an 18th-century palace, enjoy a homecooked dinner from your host and explore the nearby ruined temple and fortress.
verified
Fall asleep to the calls of the jungle in Chitwan National Park, then embark on a safari in search of rhinos, deer, monkeys, tigers and a wide array of bird life.
verified
Indulge in Delhi-cious street food and immerse yourself in the colourful chaos of India’s capital city – from chicken tikka to vegetarian curries, your local leader will know all the best lunch and dinner spots.

This trip involves travel on public transport, covering long distances meaning some long travel days. Long-distance and overnight trains can often be delayed and occasionally cancelled due to heavy fog between December and February. Some patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment here. Sit back, relax and watch the scenery go by (a book or podcast won't hurt either).

Weather in India and Nepal can be very hot in summer and surprisingly cold in winter, so please pack accordingly so you aren't caught out! Check seasonal weather guides and pick a travel time that suits your comfort level.

This trip is a great way to see a lot in a short period of time and it can be part of a longer itinerary if you have more time to explore. You might like to check out Epic India to Nepal.

Intrepid tours are such a wonderful way to see a country like a local, to get off the beaten track to see places & try things you never would if you travelled alone.
As a female traveller, I also felt so safe & protected, which I believe is immensely important.
The guides are always full of local wisdom & knowledge which helps make the trip even more unforgettable.
Highly recommend!

This trip was amazing, from seeing the Taj Mahal to the rhinos it was a great 2 weeks! Our guide Parul was the best, she was so knowledgable and helpful and made the trip run so smoothly! I recommend taking plenty bug spray and a neck pillow for the bus journeys! A pair of binoculars never go wrong too! You’ll not regret going on this experience!

This trip was everything I wanted and more. For such an affordable price, we saw so much of both countries and the optional activities were great too. The highlight was our guide, Parul, who really made this trip for me with her professionalism, organisation and great company!

This trip is very well customised for young individuals who seek to experience Northern India and Nepal with ease. We got to see the beautiful pink city and Taj Mahal, spiritual city of Varanasi, and amazing wildlife sight at Chitwan. It had been an amazing trip, amazing travel buddies, and of course our amazing tour leader, Parul. She is very kind, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
Looking forward to more trips with Intrepid in the future :)

I had the most amazing time on this trip. It by far exceeded my expectations. Our leader Pre also made the trip great and her organisation meant we could fully relax and enjoy the trip. Doing this tour is definitely the way to go as we did so much that I wouldn't have been able to do on my own. There's a great mix of city time and more chill time in Tordi and in Nepal. The overnight train was such a cool experience. There are some long travel days but that's to be expected with how big India is!!

I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. India is a full on experience; noisy, vibrantly colourful, everything is amplified. Each destination on this trip was so good. I would 10/10, no 12/10 recommend an Intrepid tour for India. The Taj Mahal is an absolute must and Jaipur is no less wonderful. Ending in Chitwan in Nepal was the perfect way to wind down at the end of the trip. The wild baby rhino we saw on the safari melted my heart completely.
