Is this trip right for you?
verified
This trip involves some long days of travel by private and local transport. While this can be tiring, it's also a fantastic way to rub shoulders with the locals. You’ll be crossing the borders between three countries on this trip and while this process is usually straightforward, you may need to be patient.
verified
Central America can get really hot and humid. Carry plenty of water as hydration is key, especially when walking a lot.
verified
Try and brush up on as many Spanish words as possible. Knowing some local lingo is a great way to break the ice with the locals.
verified
This trip is part of a longer itinerary. You might be joining travellers who have already spent some time together. If you have more time to explore, you might like to check out Epic Mexico, Belize & Guatemala or Epic Mexico to Costa Rica.

This trip is a perfect balance between relaxation on the beaches of Mexico and caye caulker, and adventure in Guatemala! Met incredible people and made so many memories! This trip is so well organised and I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable as our tour guide took great care to check in on everybody, everything step of the way! Would highly recommend for young women who feel more comfortable travelling in a group of likeminded individuals!!

Had a great time exploring Central America with Intrepid. The tour offered a seamless approach to travel and made crossing borders between countries easy! The tour would not have been the same without the guidance and help of our tour leader Antonio who was knowledgeable and fun to hang out with. I look forward to travelling with Intrepid again in the future!

The tour, and especially the variety between the beach, Mayan sites, nature, and the Fuego volcano, is fantastic. Our tour guide Vin did a great job accompanying us on the tour and gave us lots of information about the culture.

We had a great time during our travel through Central America. During the booking process Intrepid was very responsive. During the trip itself we had the pleasure of having Adriana as our guide who is very nice and knowledgeable about the history and culture of all the places we went to. Lastly, we really appreciate how Intrepid supports responsible traveling. All of our stays had free watertabs to avoid plastic (bottle waste) and throughout the trip they shared tips about how to support the local communities in a responsible way. All in all great experience!
