Trip Informations
Embark on a South American escapade from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro on this 14-day adventure. Soak up the might of Argentina before crossing to the charming city of Colonia del Sacramento, then explore the lively Mercado del Puerto in Montevideo. Spend two nights getting to know the locals on an estancia (farm) in Uruguay, either chipping in with the chores or relaxing in the sun, then marvel at the majesty of Iguazu Falls. Finishing off in the paradise of Ilha Grande and the buzz of Rio de Janeiro, you’ll experience the many sides of South America.
Why you’ll love this trip
Soak up the sights of Buenos Aires – explore the historic city centre, sample Argentinian BBQ and watch the city turn into a nightlife hotspot.
Spend two nights at a working estancia (farm) in Uruguay, where you can spend your time getting involved in farm work, learning about gauchos, riding horses or simply relaxing in the sun.
The mighty Iguazu Falls straddles the border between Argentina and Brazil, and you’ll cross the border to see its incredible cascades from both sides.
You’ll have plenty of time to choose your own adventure at Ilha Grande with a full day on the island. If hiking, boating, kayaking or lazing on a beach is your thing, you’ll be well and truly covered.
Finish off your travels in the bright lights of Rio de Janeiro – a unique combination of city, beach and mountains famed for its party scene and rhythmic music.
By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Tuuur Foundation partner, Gastromotiva. Donations provide job training for vulnerable youth in Rio De Janeiro and promote the importance of sustainable cooking.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip involves some long travel days, including an overnight bus. This is a great opportunity to get to know your group and really enjoy the journey (while you wait for the stunning destinations). The buses are well equipped with comfortable reclining seats and onboard toilets. Snacks are provided but we recommend you also bring your own food in case you get hungry.
While at the estancia in Uruguay, you can choose to participate in the day-to-day activities of the farm as much or as little as you like. If you do choose to get involved, prepare for some early morning starts and to get your hands dirty when working directly with animals. The accommodation is multi-share and meals are served family style. Please inform your booking agent if you have any dietary requirements.
This trip is part of a longer itinerary. You might be joining travellers who have already spent some time together. If you have more time to explore, you might like to check out Epic South America or Real Bolivia to Brazil.
