Is this trip right for you?
While the hikes on this trip are at relatively altitude (maximum 1600 m asl), this active hiking trip requires a good level of fitness, due to the varied terrain and potentially hot temperatures. Many of the hiking days involve steep hills and lots of steps that you'll need to be able to walk up and down.
Summer temperatures can be very hot, especially on trails that have little or no shade. It’s essential to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Please consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
To get to the best hiking trails in the region you’ll cover a lot of distance on this trip, but all in the comfort of our private vehicle.
In Hoang Su Phi there is only one rice harvest per year, which takes place in October. The rice fields are usually flooded at the end of May or early June, which makes for harder hiking, but stunning photographs.

The best hotels and private hiking trails! But it rained on one of our hikes, causing us to spend hours soaked on the trail, while slipping on muddy slopes and feeding leeches. An unforgetable experience even for avid hikers.

The mountains of north Vietnam are a magnificent must see of the country. The local people and their domestic animals were a delight to be amongst for the week of trekking through their farms and villages. Memories to behold for life.

Premium trekking and hiking in Northern Vietnam was a fantastic trip. The accomodation was very special, and the countryside was so scenic. If you want to see another side of Vietnam and get away from the cities and the crowds, I would highly recommend this trip.

The tour was an incredible experience - the scenery, the accommodation, and the food were outstanding. The Garrya resort was beyond amazing! Be prepared for some strenuous hikes - can be tough in the heat. Our guide Tri was exceptional. So caring, generous with his knowledge, and a great sense of humour.

This was the first time we had been in a tour group or an organised trek. The overall experience was fabulous. There were physical challenges that were achievable and supported. The food and accommodation was amazing. Tri our guide was an incredible personality who gave us a intimate window into life in Vietnam. This tour was worth every cent we spent. This was our first time in Vietnam and and it was superb.

Loved this tour! The scenery was unbelievably beautiful - but hiking was harder than anticipated with the heat/humidity. Our guide Tri went above and beyond, sharing his love of Vietnam and local people, and took great care of our group. The last resort was beyond amazing. Highly recommend!

Overall, this (relatively new trip) was excellent. Hiking in the three best places of Northern Viet Nam. Accommodation and food were both fantastic - the last resort hotel a stand out. The guide (Bin) was fabulous and managed the trip with confidence and calmness. The compromise is the time spent driving (on sometimes windy narrow roads) between the three places. The hikes could also be a bit challenging in the heat and humidity with elevation gains of between 500 m and 900 m per hike. Overall, an exceptional trip.

This itinerary was well curated, the accommodations outstanding, and our leader Tri, was the best leader I have ever experienced. The hiking was challenging, even with good weather, but the destinations made up for it.
