Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Travel with a local leader who will share the magic of Uzbekistan's ‘holiest city’ in Bukhara, tell the ancient tales of historic Khiva and guide you through the extraordinary architecture of Samarkand.
Uncover Tashkent’s Soviet legacy and its contemporary culture. Explore the vast Chorsu Bazaar and embrace the hustle and bustle of one of Asia's oldest markets.
Stay within the walls of Uzbekistan’s history during a historical Feature Stay in an old Jewish house converted into a boutique hotel in Bukhara.
Understand local life through food by joining a local family in Samarkand for a cooking class, where you’ll learn about the popular Central Asian rice dish of plov. Then, enjoy a taste of Khorezmian culture during a family cooking class in Khiva.
Dig into Samarkand’s cultural heritage on a visit with a local artisan – one of the few people in Central Asia who continues to produce paper using a 1000-year-old method. Then, indulge in a few drops at the Bagizagan winery, considered the best wine producer in Uzbekistan.
Is this trip right for you?
As there are a couple of long travel days, plenty of time spent on your feet and days can be hot and dusty, you'll need to be reasonably fit to get the most out if this trip.
The Central Asian diet relies heavily on meat-based dishes. Dietary restrictions, such as vegetarian and gluten free, are not well known in Uzbekistan, and may have very limited options.
Our accommodation is all carefully selected, but keep in mind that the standard in Uzbekistan does not always live up to the Western expectations you might be used to. Rooms can be small, water pressure can be unreliable, and some amenities might not always be available.
Winter weather in Uzbekistan is unpredictable with cold, sunny conditions as likely as rain or snow in certain locations. At this time of year, it is important you prepare for the various weather conditions you may encounter and to pack accordingly – plenty of layers, waterproofs and appropriate footwear.

This was a brilliant tour. It was organised so well and our guide was excellent in every way especially in how he handled the more self-centred group members.

I wanted to see Samarkand which had inspired my previous travels but was bowled over by Tashkent, Bukhara, Khiva and of course Samarkand greatly helped by perfect weather and mostly by our super-star guide Farhod who was so kind, solicitous to us all, full of humour, so knowledgeable of the region

A wonderful trip. Farkhod was a splendid guide and Uzbek people are so friendly. At almost every turn there was glorious architecture … it was like walking through a history book. The food was heavy with meat but you could avoid it and the soups were all delicious. I would highly recommend it

The Uzbekistan trip is excellent and a dreamlike immersion into the cities of the Silk Road, their amazing history and architecture, the trading routes and the leaders that made it great, including Amir Temur, little known in the west. It's a magical place where centuries co-exist as the ancient cities unfold their stories.

Our recent tour of Uzbekistan was an unforgettable experience, made truly special by our exceptional tour leader, Lochin. From the moment we arrived, Lochin’s warmth, professionalism, and passion for his country shone through. He shared his deep knowledge of Uzbekistan’s rich history and culture with such enthusiasm and clarity that every city—from Tashkent to Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva—came alive for us. His storytelling, humour, and attention to detail made the journey both educational and enjoyable. Lochin was always approachable, calm, and organised, ensuring everything ran smoothly while also creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere within the group. His kindness and genuine care for each traveller made everyone feel included and well looked after. Thanks to Lochin, our journey through the Silk Road cities was not only beautifully planned but also filled with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable memories. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a more enriching experience. I would highly recommend this tour!

We cannot rate the Premium Uzbekistan trip highly enough. Our tour leader Farkhod had infectious enthusiasm for his home country and a deep knowledge that we all benefitted from. The itinerary is busy but excellent with enough free time to explore under our own steam or just simply have a nap. We would come back to Uzbekistan in a heartbeat.
