Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Travel with a local leader who will share the magic of Uzbekistan's ‘holiest city’ in Bukhara, tell the ancient tales of historic Khiva and guide you through the extraordinary architecture of Samarkand.
Uncover Tashkent’s Soviet legacy and its contemporary culture. Explore the vast Chorsu Bazaar and embrace the hustle and bustle of one of Asia's oldest markets.
Stay within the walls of Uzbekistan’s history during a historical Feature Stay in an old Jewish house converted into a boutique hotel in Bukhara.
Understand local life through food by joining a local family in Samarkand for a cooking class, where you’ll learn about the popular Central Asian rice dish of plov. Then, enjoy a taste of Khorezmian culture during a family cooking class in Khiva.
Dig into Samarkand’s cultural heritage on a visit with a local artisan – one of the few people in Central Asia who continues to produce paper using a 1000-year-old method. Then, indulge in a few drops at the Bagizagan winery, considered the best wine producer in Uzbekistan.
Is this trip right for you?
As there are a couple of long travel days, plenty of time spent on your feet and days can be hot and dusty, you'll need to be reasonably fit to get the most out if this trip.
The Central Asian diet relies heavily on meat-based dishes. Dietary restrictions, such as vegetarian and gluten free, are not well known in Uzbekistan, and may have very limited options.
Our accommodation is all carefully selected, but keep in mind that the standard in Uzbekistan does not always live up to the Western expectations you might be used to. Rooms can be small, water pressure can be unreliable, and some amenities might not always be available.
Winter weather in Uzbekistan is unpredictable with cold, sunny conditions as likely as rain or snow in certain locations. At this time of year, it is important you prepare for the various weather conditions you may encounter and to pack accordingly – plenty of layers, waterproofs and appropriate footwear.

Premium Uzbekistan is one of the top 3 vacations I have ever taken! The destination is absolutely incredible, the food was delicious, and our tour guide Lochin was excellent! This was our first premium tour with Intrepid, and it was well worth the premium price. I have traveled extensively, and Uzbekistan was truly unique, and the architecture was absolutely stunning. This is a must do vacation!

The Premium Uzbekistan tour was truly a trip of a lifetime to a fascinating, beautiful and captivating corner of the world that played a starring role in the Silk Road. Our tour guide, Richard, showed us the best of the country and its people, and his passion and enthusiasm made the trip truly unforgettable. I would highly recommend this trip to everyone!

An efficiently run intense tour packing in the edited highlights of Uzbekistan, with fun activities (wine tasting and plov cooking), upmarket hotels and comfortable travel. If you like to read carefully every museum exhibit caption, or want a "roughing it adventure" this is not the trip for you.

Our guide Tulkin opened up Uzbekistan to us in a way that would have been impossible otherwise. He took us to incredible places on trains, buses and planes - all smoothly, without stress, and our group was a fabulous mix of interesting people.

An excellent tour that reveals the beautiful country and the Uzbek history and wonderful people. Opens your eyes to a poorly understood part of the world.

Uzbekistan is a safe, surprising and stunning destination. You will love the people, the places and your guide’s passion towards this incredible country. Just do it - you won’t be disappointed. Uzbekistan has buildings that are stunning beauties, worth a trip from anywhere. And I had one of the all-time great guides in Intrepid's Lochin. I'm so glad I got to see this part of the world--it was a trip that really left a mark.

I highly recommend this trip. I had reservations about visiting central Asia but this trip completely changed my mind about this part of the world and about the countries that were formerly part of the Soviet Union. Eye opening!
