Trip Informations
Fall under Peru’s spell on an in-depth Premium adventure. Over 18 days, you’ll discover the winelands of Ica with an expert sommelier, search for red-footed boobies, flamingos and sea lions in the Ballestas Islands and explore the ancient terraces and hot springs of Colca Canyon. Then head to higher altitudes to get to know traditional communities on Lake Titicaca, uncover the stories of the UNESCO-listed city of Cusco with a local historian and travel to Machu Picchu in style aboard the 360° Train. End your adventure with jungle walks and boat rides at a lush resort in the Amazon, before returning to Lima to feast on Peruvian delights.
Why you’ll love this trip
Take a walk on the wild side at your Feature Stay in the heart of the Amazon and enjoy a full day of wildlife activities, including a boat tour, night jungle walks and more.
Savour the flavours of Peru during Signature Experience, including dinner at one of Lima’s best restaurants, snacks from a cafe supporting single mothers, and a home-cooked pachamanca (earth oven) lunch in the Sacred Valley.
Get to know the real Peru as you travel with a local leader, meet a local community in the Sacred Valley and visit the world-class Larco Museum with a historian or archaeologist.
Cruise across Lake Titicaca to discover the floating Uros Islands and Taquile Island, then return to Puno for a peaceful sunset over the lake with wine and cheese in the garden.
Set out in search of pelicans, flamingos, sea lions and penguins on an exciting boat tour around the Ballestas Islands just off the coast of the Paracas Peninsula.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip spends time at altitude; you should refer to the Medical & Health Information for this trip to understand the risks.
Visitors are not permitted to explore Machu Picchu without a Machu Picchu guide (not our trip leaders) and must follow set routes within the site. This trip includes two guided visits at Machu Picchu and each visit is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours long. Your leader will provide more information to ensure you get the most out of your visits to this incredible site.
There are a couple of long drives on this trip, in particular on Days 8 and 11. These journeys are by private vehicle and although they may be a little tiring, they’re a great chance to sit back and enjoy the passing scenery and chat to your fellow travellers.
According to Machu Picchu visiting regulations, all visitors to Machu Picchu must follow a pre-determined circuit within the site as a way to relieve crowding. The circuit-based entrance tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We will do all that is possible to get everyone traveling in a group on the same route, but be aware that it is possible that members of the same group might be visiting Machu Picchu on a different circuit and not be together during this visit. Once the guided visit concludes, visitors must exit the site and personal exploration of Machu Picchu is not permitted.
Travellers who choose different ways of reaching Machu Picchu (Inca Trail, Quarry Trail or Train) will not follow the same routes within Machu Picchu. This means that you may not be able to have photos together overlooking Machu Picchu. This applies to travellers on the same booking or separate bookings. It is possible for passengers who have taken the train to join passengers who have done the Inca Trail on the second visit of Machu Picchu, by repeating the guided tour. If you are interested in this option, please tell your booking agent.
