On this nine-day Premium adventure, join a local leader to discover Peru's Inca, Indigenous and modern sides of Peru on an immersive journey that hits the Amazon and Machu Picchu – one of the Seven Wonders of the World. From the historical charm of Lima to the incredible biodiversity of the Amazon Rainforest, you'll take walking tours of thriving cities with an expert local leader, spend a night in a thatched cabana lodge surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest, take a 360 train with incredible views of Inca ruins and spend time with the local Willoq community for a chance to witness the Peruvian culture firsthand.
Why you’ll love this trip
Spend a night surrounded by nature in the Amazon rainforest in a private thatched cabana – your Feature Stay, located in the heart of a 380 hectare-private ecological reserve with a team of expert on-site guides.
Take your taste buds on a trip from the market stalls of Lima to a traditional Andean lunch in the Sacred Valley.
See some unbeatable views of the Andes as you travel towards Machu Picchu on a 360 train, offering high domed windows and an open-air observation carriage to immerse yourself in the incredible landscape.
Visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu, on not one but two visits in the afternoon and the early morning, to see all that you can at this incredible feat of Inca engineering!
Experience the country’s best sights, including an unforgettable day of wildlife activities in the Amazon Jungle.
Is this trip right for you?
Due to the high altitude of the places we visit some people can suffer altitude sickness, regardless of age, gender or fitness. Please see the 'Medical and health information' section of the Essential Trip Information for more details.
This trip visits Peru's coast, mountains and the Amazon Jungle, which means you'll need a flexible wardrobe no matter what time of year you travel. Please review the 'Climate and seasonal information' and 'Packing' sections of the Essential Trip Information.
Visitors are not permitted to explore Machu Picchu without a Machu Picchu guide (not our trip leaders) and must follow set routes within the site. This trip includes two guided visits of Machu Picchu and each visit is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours long. Your leader will provide more information to ensure you get the most out of your visits to this incredible site.
According to Machu Picchu visiting regulations, all visitors must follow a pre-determined route within the site. This route must be followed in one direction only, and once the guided visit commences exiting and re-entering the site is not permitted. Once the guided visit concludes, visitors must exit the site and personal exploration of Machu Picchu is not permitted. Please refer to the itinerary for details.
Travellers who choose different ways of reaching Machu Picchu (Inca Trail, Quarry Trail or Train), will not follow the same routes within Machu Picchu. This means that you may not be able to have photos together, overlooking Machu Picchu. This applies to travellers on the same booking or separate bookings.

Our trip to Peru was excellent. We had a minor medical issue so actually missed some major parts of the trip, but we thoroughly enjoyed the rain forest. The local guides there were so knowledgable and friendly.

This was a super itinerary with a small group of 8 and excellent leader Carlos. Those that included the Inca trail found it physically taxing but a unique experience.

My first experience with Intrepid exceeded my expectations. Our guide Luis really made the trip so fun and comfortable, as well as safe. Everything was really well organised. Our accomodations were excellent, and some were really unique. Would definitely pick Intrepid next time for my travels.

I would recommend Intrepid to anyone. I felt like I really learned about the culture and history of Peru and felt so connected to the culture and Mother Nature. Our guide, Norma, was INCREDIBLE!

The Intrepid Premium Peru trip was great with excellent guides, accommodations, and food. Great itinerary. I only wish that all the participants were warned with regards to the required basic mobility and fitness necessary for the tour so that no one would be held back from fully enjoying the trip. I would not hesitate to sign up for another Intrepid tour next time.

We were in Peru for seven days. This is leg one of our 24 days South America Highlights package. We felt very safe and very well taken care of by Intrepid especially by our guide William. The premium package was expensive but worth every penny. I will look into future trips with Intrepid. I like how they look out for their tourists and their support of the locals.
