Why you’ll love this trip
Experience a different side of bustling Bangkok during an Exclusive Experience – rise early and visit a local temple where you’ll ‘make merit’ by bringing an offering to the temple’s monks
Stay in the beautiful Lisu lodge for your Feature Stay. This community-based project employs Lisu villagers and allows you to immerse yourself in local culture while enjoying creature comforts.
Cruise the waterways on board a traditional rice barge as you watch local life pass by and enjoy a delicious meal during an Exclusive Experience.
Support an important animal welfare initiative, speak with local experts and get close to incredible creatures at the Elephant Nature Park.
Unleash your creativity and learn about the history of Benjarong, a traditional style of painted Thai porcelain, with a visit to a Benjarong ceramics community.
By travelling on this trip, you’ll learn about our Tuuur Foundation partner, World Animal Protection. Donations support them to promote better living conditions for elephants in captivity and help rescue elephants from inhumane conditions. Tuuur will double your impact by dollar-matching all post-trip donations made to The Tuuur Foundation.
Is this trip right for you?
You will visit several temples on this trip, which requires a level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and pants or skirts that go past the knees. The heat can be challenging, especially in April and May, so please pack accordingly.
This trip includes a leisurely cycling tour around Sukhothai Heritage Park, so a level of confidence on a bike is required. The roads are quiet with minimal traffic, and the tour takes place within the park's confines.

The guide made this trip. I travelled solo and she was so wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable about all the different places we visited. Highly recommend this trip and that was down to the expertise of our leader.

The Intrepid tour North of Bangkok was wonderful!! We learned so much, and we had an excellent guide who had a terrific command of the English language, history, birds, and biology and religion. etc.. Intrepid did a great job with accommodations, providing a fabulous guide, and the food was really delicious. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.

Our tour of northern Thailand was excellent in every respect. The booking was straightforward, communication by telephone was clear and easy and, above all, the tour guide, Damrong, was superb. He was very knowledgeable about life in Thailand and went above and beyond in taking care of all in the travelling group.

Probably the best tour I have ever been on and I’ve been on over 25 with different companies. Tour leader Damrong was fantastic. Organisation and inclusions were fantastic. The Lesu lodge and elephant nature park were out of this world! Everything went so smoothly thanks to tour leader Damrong. Will definitely use intrepid again! You need to book this tour!
