WE had an amazing trip to Japan with Intrepid. We had the premium tour and it was fantastic. The hotels were lovely, our guide Shizuka was one of the best I have ever had and I have been a travel agent over 40 years. You can't go wrong with Intrepid. This is my third trip and it won't be my last.

An amazing experience travelling through Japan and getting to know the culture and way of life of people of Japan. Culture, cleanliness and courtesy of the country and people are on display at every nook and corner of this wonderful country. Having viewed so many disgruntled reviews on Intrepid, I feel that that our review was based on 12 day premium tour to Japan which was 5* from start to finish. Our tour was supposed to be for a group of 12 people, but ended up being 8 people which was perfect. There was a good range of ages on our trip, from 21 to 80. We started in Tokyo, then Hakone, Takayama, Hiroshima and Kyoto. We travelled using a boat, public bus, cable car, ferry, metro, bullet train and normal trains. Although some of the normal trains etc were busy, our guide got us all from A to B. We had received our full itinerary, which we received prior to our trip, no surprises. Japan felt a very safe country, although I am sure it does problem areas like any other country. No matter which area you were in, it was extremely clean and the locals all very courteous and welcoming. Food was wonderful even though some of use did not eat fish or raw fish. There was always plenty of variety and you were never hungry. Our guide Yuji was amazing and ensured every aspect of our tour was covered. His knowledge was great, but without being overpowering. He understood what are group required, extra assistance at times. He went over and above what was required of him. Japanese hotel rooms are a lot smaller than we are all used to in the rest of the world, so bear this in mind when you are selecting which level of trip you are doing. Although you may feel you've paid a lot for your trip, doing the economy, or comfort option wasn't for us, Premium was lovely. So go on, bite the bullet, be adventurous, life is to short. Live every moment to the full

Yuji was an amazing tour guide, highly knowledgeable, professional, and experienced. What really stood out was how he went above and beyond, even taking us to places that weren’t originally on the itinerary to make the experience even more special. He made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the trip and was always attentive to how the group was feeling, adjusting the itinerary when needed. His care and flexibility made the tour truly unforgettable. Highly recommend!
