Is this trip right for you?
verified
The northern lights are most visible during the colder months, when temperatures can reach -15C or below and snow is very likely. It's important to bring appropriate clothing such as a down jacket, thermals layers, gloves and suitable footwear.
verified
Many locations on this itinerary are remote, which means a few long drives. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the scenery and spend some time getting to know your fellow travellers.
verified
While there is a strong chance of seeing the northern lights in all their colourful glory (thanks to the high latitude, time of year and itinerary), nature makes no guarantees. On the rare occasion that your leader must alter the itinerary due to adverse weather, alternative activities will be offered.
Itinerary
Hunt the aurora and discover Iceland’s natural wonders
Search the sky for dancing lights by night and discover natural wonders by day on this eight-day Premium adventure. Travel with a local leader who brings the landscape to life as you view the mighty Gullfoss waterfall, drive through hardened lava fields in Vatnajokull National Park, see the eerily calm waters of the Glacier Lagoon and wander among Reynisdrangar’s imposing basalt sea stacks. Iceland felt like a dream—thundering waterfalls, erupting geysers, and volcanic fields that looked otherworldly. The Northern Lights painted the sky in surreal colors, while Reykjavík’s cozy vibe added charm. Hearing folklore of the hidden people made mossy hills feel alive, blending nature and myth into an unforgettable adventure.

Had a great trip and a fun group of people. Larus was a very knowledgeable guide and I think we all learned a LOT about Iceland. We did get a few opportunities to see the Northern Lights. One thing to consider for this trip is the amount of daylight. As you get towards Winter Solstice the days are short so better for the Northern Lights but seeing all the sights will be starting near dark and finishing in the dark each day. Would recommend!

Highly recommend this trip! We had a great group with a mix of ages from different parts of the world. The trip itself was done at a good pace, with most days packed full, but we did not feel exhausted by the end. We saw so many beautiful parts of the country whilst being driven in a nice Mercedes mini bus. We also got to spot the northern lights dancing above. Our leader Giuseppe was amazing - he was so knowledgeable about the country and made you feel so welcome, and he was happy to answer any questions.
Don’t hesitate to book this!

From beginning to end this was a fascinating, uplifting and gripping trip the food and accommodation were amazing and the variety of activities and the area we were able to cover was incredible. Our guide was great fun and incredibly knowledgeable and we learned a huge amount. We are still in touch with some of our fellow travellers and considerate one of the best holidays we've had..

This was a magical trip. We saw the Northern Lights once, BUT, that was not even the highlight of the trip. Iceland's landscape is jaw-droppingly beautiful. We experienced rain, snow, extreme wind, sun, multiple storm systems and loved every minute of the changing scenery. Einar kept us safe and informed throughout the travel from one beautiful location to another. I would highly recommend this trip, so long as you pack waterproof everything.

I will be recommending this tour to all of my friends. The tour ran with only 4 of us in a 15 seater bus so it felt like a private tour. Our guide, Arni, was the consummate professional and just the person you want on a tour like this. He was informative and entertaining and had the knowledge and the skills to ensure we had a safe but exhilarating
Experience. Iceland in winter is amazing.
