Why you’ll love this trip
Visit the home of a local family in Trinidad for an Exclusive Experience where you’ll enjoy a festive home-cooked dinner paired with the local drink, Canchanchara, made from 'fire water' (local honey and lime juice).
Admire the colours of Soroa during an Exclusive Experience. Visit a vibrant orchid garden with a local expert and take a private tour to learn about the region’s diverse array of flora and fauna.
Discover the cobblestone streets of Trinidad, learn some salsa steps in slow-paced Vinales, and take in the colours of Soroa – the valley known as the 'Rainbow of Cuba'.
Explore Havana’s main sights during a tour in a classic American car – a nod to the city’s colourful vintage past.
Your local leader will help you learn the story of the Cuban Revolution, as well as a visit to the memorials dedicated to revolutionary hero Ernesto Che Guevara in Santa Clara.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip is open to all, including US citizens. If you're a US citizen joining the program, please refer to the Important Notes for more details.
Hotels in Cuba are government-run, which means renovations are few and far between. As for the guesthouses (casas) we use, they are much nicer than your average Cuban dwelling, but keep in mind that each and every room is unique. These rooms may also be quite different than what you’re used to back home. That said, regardless of where you stay, power cuts, patchy wi-fi and breaks in hot water are sometimes unavoidable, as in any developing country. To help set your expectations correctly, please read the ‘Accommodation’ section of the Essential Trip Information.
Internet in Cuba can also be scarce, unreliable and expensive. Treat this trip as a holiday from emails and social media.
Cuba is different, and that's a big part of its allure, but it’s not a luxury destination. Things don't always go according to plan, and many things don't work the same way as back home. Patience and good humour will go a long way in this beautiful country.
Cuba experiences significant electricity problems, so power outages are common. It’s recommended you travel with a flashlight. It’s also recommended you bring ear plugs as the walls are thin.
Your accommodations on this trip will likely have stairs with no elevators, so keep in mind that you’ll be taking the stairs more often than not. If you’re concerned about mobility, let your booking agent know and we can try to accommodate you with rooms closer to the ground level if possible.

The Premium Cuba trip was great! Ada is a fantastic and well informed guide. The accommodations at the guest houses I stayed in were comfortable and well appointed. Included meals always tasted delicious and had a larger than expected variety. Overall, I would certainly recommend checking this trip out.

Take this trip. I consider myself high-maintenance and I could handle it. If you use a CPAP or really need electricity then definitely do the Premium tour. Pray that you get Ada as a guide; she's the best.

Incredible trip! Cuba is an amazing country and our guide Emilio brought every aspect of the country, history and people to life! Refreshingly authentic - it does what it says on the tin. Ably assisted by driver Aciel. They were both a credit to Intrepid and their country!

I had no expectations about Cuba. I've been all over the world and thought it would be like the rest of the Caribbean. Boy was I wrong! What a magical, delightful and interesting country. The people are so warm and lovely. I am already planning to go back to this surreally wonderful place! Intrepid did a great job with itinerary, lodging, and guides.

Our Intrepid tour of Cuba exceeded my expectations. Guide was excellent. We saw and did so much and really engaged with Cuban people. Always felt safe. The food was good and plentiful. The hosts were friendly and responsive. The history and landscapes along with the people at the sites we visiting created deep impressions. Great to see more than Havana. Enjoyed the group we were with and did not want the tour to end. I hope more people visit Cuba.

A trip to Cuba has its challenges. January was definitely a good time to travel for weather and less mosquitoes. However, our group had the best guide Yummet. She took care of us and guided us through her country, sharing her knowledge and highlighting the beauty of the island. The activities were very diverse and had something for everyone. I feel she went above and beyond for us everyday! Thank you Yummet for giving me special memories of Cuba and the people.

This tour exceeded my expectations. This tour offers the opportunity see the reality of Cuba's struggles and the pride in its heroes and its victories. We had an amazing tour manager named Yumet, who was welcoming, well-organized and knowledgeable. She always made sure we were comfortable, safe and that our curiosities were nurtured. If you like history, art, African/Spanish music, lovely beaches, great food (especially lobster), creative entrepreneurs and experiencing life as the Cubans live it, then you'll find it all on this tour.
