3. This itinerary no longer visits Hunedoara Castle as it is undergoing renovation and there is a lack of local guides meaning we cannot guarantee the quality of the experience. You will instead visit the UNESCO site of Sarmizegetusa Regia with a local guide, as well as visiting Peles Castle and Bran Castle.

We chose this trip because we have a family heritage in Romania and an interest in Eastern Europe. It turned out to be much more informative and much more enjoyable than we anticipated! In each location, our local tour guides were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. And Raluka’s engagement with us and her love of Romania really made the trip for us! Her local recommendations for activities outside of the tour itinerary really added to our enjoyment of every place we visited! We hope to travel with Intrepid again!!

Banat and Transylvannia exceeded our expectations. Sandu was an excellent guide who adjusted itinerary for very hot weather. Only criticism is that some of the city tours were too long.

Romania is a gem of a country, the confluence of many cultural and religious influences still evident to this day. And very enjoyable on top of that. With a great group and an extraordinary tour leader, Maria-Christina (MC), all in all a wonderful tour.

I undertook the tour from Belgrade to Bucharest in May 2024, essentially exploring Romania. I found Romania to be a vibrant and visually stunning country. It has a very interesting history and many locations support that view. The people are friendly and helpful. I would strongly recommend visiting Romania.

Totally concur with David ‘s comments . Romania was unexpectedly engaging and thoroughly enjoyable . The towns we visited had intriguing histories – past and recent. Raluca was the most delightful guide with a real passion for her country and preservation of its traditions and environment. There was an interesting variety of accommodation which was well chosen for location/character.

Romania (Transylvania) is a real surprise - forget your preconceptions. Rich history and culture, beautiful towns and countryside, and varied cuisine. All brought to life by a superbly organised small group tour offering a real insight into the country. Led in our case by Raluca Bolnavu, the perfect guide in every way

This was overall a great trip. Romania is a beautiful country, and I enjoyed all the places we stayed in/visited, particularly Sibiu, Brasov and Peles Castle. Our tour guide Raluca and driver Dorin were excellent, and the local guides were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing their cities with us. There were a lot of great experiences on this trip, and Romania really exceeded my expectations!
