Trip Informations
Get set for a nine-day family adventure that combines Peruvian culture, wildlife and ancient wonders. Stay in an eco-lodge in the Amazon with a wide range of activities to choose from – you and the kids might find yourselves cruising down the Tambopata River in search of caimans, watching macaws snacking on clay licks or kayaking to riverside beaches. Venture into the Sacred Valley to learn how to make bracelets with a local Indigenous community, craft your own chocolate at a social enterprise and maybe even opt into a one-day Inca Trail trek. Take a guided tour of dazzling Machu Picchu to learn about the ‘Lost City of the Inca’ – this is one of the Seven Wonders of the World! Peru is sure to leave an impression on the whole family.
Why you’ll love this trip
Spend two nights at an eco-lodge in the Amazon Jungle. Choose from a range of onsite activities including wildlife trails, kayaking, birdwatching and night-time boat rides to see caimans.
Meet with an Indigenous community in the Sacred Valley. Join the local families for lunch and get hands-on with traditional bracelet-making, then take a chocolate-making workshop at a social enterprise.
Take part in a family-friendly science challenge that combines learning and hands-on fun at the Moray archaeological site and UNESCO World Heritage-listed Maras Salt Ponds.
Explore the ancient wonder of Machu Picchu on a guided tour. Opt in for a one-day Inca Trail trekking adventure to reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) for an iconic view over this incredible site.
Make your own zampona – a traditional panpipe instrument – with the help of a resident musician and learn how to play it like a local.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip visits places that are at high altitude, and as a result some people can suffer from altitude sickness, regardless of age or physical health. Please see the Medical and Health Information section of the Essential Trip Information for more details.
According to Machu Picchu visiting regulations, all visitors to Machu Picchu must follow a pre-determined circuit within the site as a way to relieve crowding. The circuit-based entrance tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. We will do all that is possible to get everyone travelling in a group on the same route, but be aware that it is possible that members of the same group might be visiting Machu Picchu on a different circuit and may not be together during this visit. Once the guided visit concludes, visitors must exit the site and personal exploration of Machu Picchu is not permitted.
Temperatures in the Amazon can fluctuate from daytime humidity to night-time chill. Insects, especially mosquitoes, are common. We recommend tropical-strength insect repellent and light cotton clothing that covers your arms and legs, with warmer layers for the evening.
