Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Colonial facades, Spanish houses, endless culture and delicious cuisine during your free time in the Peruvian capital.
Take the opportunity to board a scenic flight over the Nazca Lines – whether they’re the work of ancient civilizations or something more supernatural, it’s an incredible experience.
Trek the Inca Trail, the Quarry Trail or take the scenic train route, no matter how you get there, the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu are a majestic destination.
Explore Cusco, South America's oldest continuously inhabited city, with its ancient foundations and interesting blend of Inca and colonial influences.
Experience the untouched world of the Amazon rainforest. Stroll along jungle trails on the lookout for monkeys, parrots, otters and caimans.
Whether you trek the Inca Trail, Inca Quarry Trail or take the scenic train route, you'll be travelling responsibly with a company that cares about balancing profit and purpose. Tuuur is the largest B Corp certified operator on the Inca Trail and we’re committed to operating our treks for the benefit of all.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip visits places that are at high altitude, and as a result some people can suffer from altitude sickness, regardless of age or physical health. Please see the Medical and health information section of the Essential Trip Information for more detail.
This trip involves a lot of walking to see the sites, and if you trek the Inca Trail or Quarry Trail, there'll be strenuous hiking. The trip is recommended for those with a good level of fitness. Please bring comfortable footwear suitable to hiking. See the ‘Packing’ section of the Essential Trip Information for more detail.
In many locations you'll have very basic accommodation. This includes the two homestays in rural Peru, the Amazon eco-lodge and camping along the Inca Trail or Quarry Trail (if you do either of these options). There'll be no power in these places, some won't have showers or hot water.
Temperatures in the Amazon can fluctuate from daytime humidity to night-time chill. Insects, especially mosquitoes, are common. We recommend tropical-strength insect repellent and light cotton clothing that covers your arms and legs, with warmer layers for the evening.
According to Machu Picchu visiting regulations all visitors to Machu Picchu must follow a pre-determined circuit within the site as a way to relieve crowding. The circuit-based entrance tickets are available on a first come first serve basis. We will do all that is possible to get everyone traveling in a group on the same route, but be aware that it is possible that members of the same group might be visiting Machu Picchu on a different circuit and not be together during this visit. Once the guided visit concludes, visitors must exit the site and personal exploration of Machu Picchu is not permitted.
Travellers who choose different ways of reaching Machu Picchu (Inca Trail, Quarry Trail or Train), will not follow the same routes within Machu Picchu. This means that you may not be able to have photos together, overlooking Machu Picchu. This applies to travellers on the same booking or separate bookings.
Can't decide which trek is for you? Delays in providing this information may result in booking fees or changes to your itinerary.
2. A single supplement is available if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip. Our guide, Renzo, was fantastic. I felt safe the entire trip and was able to fully engage in the culture and landscape of every destination. The itinerary made sure I experienced so many facets of Peruvian culture and history and I can't wait to travel with intrepid again to feel the same way about somewhere new. I loved this trip!

An unforgettable experience, absolutely loved Peru and Renzo was the best tour leader! So much variety with expert, passionate guides the whole way, especially Sylvia and Sara on the Quarry Trail! The Lake Titicaca homestay was a highlight and great insight into authentic Peru. Can't wait to come back!

Peru Encompassed - WoW ! Peru was not on my destination list, I was a little concerned with safety & supposed general issues .. our daughter was passionate to do this tour. I can say this has been one of the most diverse, interesting, fun, safe, educational and hugely enjoyable trips we have done. The itinerary prepared us well for high altitudes on the Quarry Trail (best experience) and we were amazed at every turn with sights, landscapes, history and wonder of this incredible country .. the local people make it extra special Thank you Renzo & Intrepid team

Our 21 days were simply perfect. From the moment we arrived at the airport, we felt well looked after and safe. Our tour guide Renzo was thoroughly organized, helpful, competent and provided us with tips on restaurants. We were always kept informed and could ask anything. Our group was great. We laughed so much and will keep in touch. The local guides were also unique. First and foremost Jean-Pierre, who led us safely through the Inca Trail with lots of knowledge, stories and laughter. The trekking along the Inca Trail will remain in our memories forever. What a job the porters and cooks did for us! We will also never forget the night at our homestay, Amelia. The days in the jungle with Christian were also very impressive. Christian lured tarantulas out of the cave for us and probably knew every call of the animals, whether bird or monkey. There is not a day we would change because it was such a great experience!

The Peru Encompassed tour was a fabulous whirlwind of culture, sightseeing, bucket list moments, and eye opening / mind blowing experiences. It balanced comfort, safety and content without unnecessary expense on overt luxury. It suited all the ages in our group and delivered above and beyond expectations. Guides were fabulous, places were genuine. Thoroughly recommend.

Fantastic trip. Peru is a wonderful country and you see it from every angle - coast, desert, mountains and jungle. The Inca trail 4 day hike is fairly challenging so be prepared. There are so many memorable experiences along the way and all the guides are fantastic and you feel very well looked after. It really is a trip of a lifetime. Highly recommend.
