Trip Informations
Did you know that you can actually stay in Peru’s Amazon Jungle? The giant jungle – which spans 8 countries and is home to more than 2 million Indigenous people – is the perfect place to explore, with a lodge to return home to every day. Walk through the rainforest, cruise along waterways, spot wildlife you’ve never seen before and learn about the healing properties of native plants. This short break is a great way to get to know the friendly people and the amazing creatures that call the Amazon home.
Why you’ll love this trip
Stay in a cosy Community-Based nature lodge, where the sound of exotic birds will start your days.
Learn from expert local guides who can share their knowledge of the region’s wildlife and plant life.
Search for rare giant river otters in quiet waterways, as well as other jungle fauna.
Ascend the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway that lets visitors observe the forest from above via suspension bridges and treetop platforms
Visit the lodge’s medicinal garden or a local family farm to learn about traditional plant species and sustainable agricultural methods passed down through generations.

Is this trip right for you?
On Independent Short Breaks, you maintain a good level of independence and freedom, with the added bonus of having the details sorted out for you. You’ll have lots of free time and you won’t be accompanied by a Trip Leader. This means that all included activities and tours will be run by different local Tuuur partners, and these may operate independently from each other. The included activities and transfers will operate on a join-in basis, which means that you could have your Adventure all to yourself, or others may join you along the way. If you would prefer to travel in a group with a dedicated Trip Leader, just get in touch with your booking agent and they will take you through some alternatives.
Rooms at the lodge are simple but comfortable open-air dwellings. There are flushing toilets, showers, and mosquito nets provided over the beds. As the rooms are open-air, they are open to the jungle. Lodge staff are primarily local, including the multilingual guides who can teach you all about the area's rich flora and fauna.
Electricity is only available in the evening/nights.
Depending on the number of guests staying at the lodge, meals may be provided in either set menu or buffet style.
As we offer daily departures of this trip, we may need to use an alternative lodge occasionally. In this case, you’ll be advised prior to travel.
The Amazon Jungle can be very hot and humid, so it's important to drink plenty of water and wear light cotton clothing. Make sure you also bring tropical-strength insect repellent. The increased temperature and humidity is also the reason why hot water is not provided or needed for showers.
This trip includes a full day's walk in the jungle. Even though the paths are well defined, this still requires a reasonable level of fitness, and sturdy walking shoes or light hiking boots are essential. The lodge will provide you with gumboots in the wet season.

We booked this trip to spend some time in the Amazon rainforest and it was easily the best part of our longer trip! We ended up being at the Explorer Lodge, which was a fantastic lodge set-up and they cooked fantastic food. We had a great mix of resting time, walking trips, night walks, and boat outings. We saw capybaras, butterflies, various species monkeys, an amazing amount of birds and more. We learned a lot from our guide, Aldair, in terms of the Amazon, farming, plants, and animals. Our 4 days, 3 nights were the perfect time period. Highly recommend!

Our Amazon short stay was an outstanding experience. We were fortunate to be allocated the Inkaterra Reserve Amazon as our base - a top shelf experience in every sense. Great accommodation, attentive staff and excellent activities. Above all our guide Gus deserves a shout out. Very authentic and knowledgable man with a passion for the Peruvian Amazon. Highly recommended trip.

Our Amazon Short Stay was a splendid prelude to longer trips we were doing with Intrepid to Peru and Ecuador. The trip is subcontracted to local providers - we were lucky enough to get Inkaterra Amazon Reserve lodge. An outstanding facility with top notch staff (especially our guide Gus). Really informative experience and short immersion in the Peruvian Amazon. Highly recommended.

I absolutely loved my time in the Amazon. Learning about the culture and seeing so many different animals was the best. I got to hear the animals waking up. The food was so delicious and the workers at the lodge do a great job at accomodating us. I would recommend this trip to anyone, it was the best experience ever!

This trip was priceless, the animals I saw while there was something I will carry with me forever. The lodge was definitely an experience for me, as I am a bit of a princess when it comes to hotels, but this is all part of the experience. The food prepared was for us was AMAZING

My guide Bastian, who is local for the Nape Lodge Amazon Stay really made my trip. He’s wonderful and is a wealth of knowledge. He also has a genuine want to connect with his clients.
