Trip Informations
Discover Norway's wild side on a family adventure designed with active teens in mind. Journey from lively Oslo into the heart of Norway's spectacular mountains and fjords. Hike and pedal on scenic family-friendly trails with panoramic views of Geilo, Hallingskarvet and Hardangervidda and step into the world of Vikings in ancient Eidfjord. Stay on the southern shores of the stunning Hardangerfjord and tackle an unforgettable glacier hike on the shimmering blue ice of Folgefonna. With a mix of outdoor adventure, fascinating history and plenty of opportunities to connect as a family, this is a Norwegian holiday packed with stories you'll be sharing for years to come.
Why you’ll love this trip
Hike along one of Geilo's most scenic mountain trails with your family, culminating with sweeping views across the Norwegian highlands.
Spend a full day cycling around Geilo at your own pace, through rolling valleys, past traditional Norwegian homes and beside sparkling lakes.
Go back in time to the Viking era in Eidfjord, exploring ancient longhouses and burial mounds and hearing fascinating stories from Norway's past.
Trek on the dazzling blue ice of Folgefonna Glacier – a highlight of your Norwegian adventure – surrounded by cinematic views of fjords, mountains and the North Sea.
Make special family memories as you weave through Norway's dramatic wilderness on two wheels and by train, between mountains, fjords and picture-perfect villages.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip includes a range of active experiences, including hiking, cycling and glacier walks. To get the most out of these adventures, a good level of fitness is recommended, but many activities can be adapted to suit different abilities.
Please keep your luggage as small and light as possible. You'll be travelling on public transport where storage space is limited. You'll need to be able to lift your luggage into storage racks, walk across cobblestone streets with it and carry it up and down stairs.
Weather in Norway during the summer is typically mild but highly variable. The key is layering and being prepared for rapid weather changes. It can still be very cold at night throughout the year, especially at the start and end of the season. Make sure to bring appropriate clothing for adverse weather conditions, including base layers, a hat, gloves, scarf, coat and anything else that will keep you cosy.
Norway can be an expensive destination in many ways, from museum entrance fees to optional activities, but especially in terms of eating out. Your leader will be on hand to help provide you with the best recommendations.
