Trip Informations
Immerse yourself in the cultures of North Morocco on this eight-day adventure. Wander through the Atlantic port of Tangier and the blue-hued streets of Chefchaouen, learn about your hosts’ culture in the sacred city of Moulay Idriss during a homestay experience and watch the sun bounce over the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Discover the medieval city of Fes and dance in the eternally festive Jemaa el-Fnaa in Marrakech, where sights and sounds mingle to create a colourful chaos. This trip lets you soak up the extravagant sights of cities and ancient towns alike, and revel in the hidden delights of all North Morocco has to offer.
Why you’ll love this trip
Experience the local hospitality during your homestay with a charming local family in Moulay Idriss – where you can enjoy a hearty homecooked feast by your host and learn about their culture.
Embrace the Atlantic breeze in the coastal town of Tangier and see the vivid blue hues of Chefchaouen over sunset, while you explore the houses and laneways of this surreal city.
See the impressive Roman ruins of Volubilis, which rise from the Jebel Zerhoun Plain, and get lost in the charm of the zigzagging lanes in the once imperial capital of Meknes.
Relive a medieval past in bustling Fes. While many tourists get lost in the labyrinthine streets of the medina, you'll have a local guide to show you the way.
Where else would you find drummers, dancers, fortune tellers, jugglers, street food vendors and old medicine men all in one place? In Marrakech of course, exploring the acclaimed Jemaa el-Fnaa.
By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Tuuur Foundation partner, Education for All. Donations help them support girls in the High Atlas Mountains through secondary school, bringing a generation of women out of the cycle of illiteracy, poverty and early marriage.
Is this trip right for you?
Ramadan will be from 10 March to 08 April in 2024. Travelling during this period can be a rewarding cultural experience, however some regular services may not be available during the daytime, such as restaurants or coffee bars, and occasionally travel can be disrupted by events. Your leader will adjust the itinerary accordingly, but please consider your travel arrangements carefully before booking travel for this period.
The trains can get busy at peak periods, so we’d recommend packing lightly and compactly to make sure you can get on and off the train easily and quickly. You'll need to be able to handle your luggage through busy train stations.

Amazing introduction to this wonderful country. Days are busy but you see a lot. Itinerary could be altered so less time spent on the train during peak sightseeing hours. However, would reccommend. Aman was fantastic guide.

Go with Intrepid to Morocco. I hope you get Mahdi as your guide, a lovely young man. What a wonderful country and the trip was great. Accommodation in small quirky hotels and home stays as well as larger hotels. Excellent local guides. Appreciated our guide organising a tipping kitty to reduce the issue of how to tip guides and transport etc. We will travel with Intrepid again soon.

For me, Chefchaouen was definitely the highlight of this trip. But overall it provided a good variety of stops. lots of interesting history, and was very well organized. Five stars!

The North Morocco trip was fantastic, there are indeed some long days and you should expect to do quite a bit of walking - in some cases there is a lot of uphill climbing or stairs when staying in mountainous areas. We felt safe and looked after the entire time, and it was was a relief to have baggage assistance with each location as well as water supplied. Overall would recommend

This was a great introduction to Northern Morocco. There was a lot of walking, and a lot of tagines, but I was able to experience Morocco in a way that I would not have been able to if I planned the visit by myself. Having a kind and knowledgeable guide who spoke the language allowed me to relax and enjoy the experience so much more.
