Trip Informations
With plenty of cultural experiences and a five-day trek with an all-female crew of mountain guides and porters, this 13-day Women's Expedition gives you a unique insight into the lives of Nepali women. Travel with a female leader and meet a range of female trailblazers along the way – from chefs at a social enterprise to a women-led NGO on a mission to end period stigma. Meet Buddhist nuns as you get an inside look at an all-female nunnery, make momos with a local woman at a Tibetan refugee camp and treat yourself to a traditional Newari pedicure in Kathmandu. Listen to personal stories, connect with like-minded travellers and be inspired on an adventure that puts women front and centre.
Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Experience the beauty of the Annapurna region on the five-day Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. Learn about the lives of your all-female trekking crew, stay in traditional teahouses and see some of Nepal’s tallest peaks.
verified
Spend two days in Chitwan National Park, where you’ll enjoy sunset drinks, a canoe ride and a game drive to spot the resident wildlife before falling asleep to the sounds of nature in your jungle lodge.
verified
Visit an NGO working to abolish menstrual stigma and chhaupadi – the illegal but socially common practice of banishing women and girls to makeshift huts during their period.
verified
Learn how to cook traditional Nepali dishes and the culinary heritage that has been passed down from generation to generation, then learn the secrets of creating the perfect momo at a cooking class in a Tibetan refugee camp.
verified
Listen to the morning prayers and learn about the lives of Buddhist nuns at an all-female monastery in Kathmandu that's challenging patriarchal traditions.
Is this trip right for you?
verified
You’ll need a high level of fitness for the trekking portion of this trip, as you'll be walking between five to seven hours a day. You’ll ascend and descend uneven stone steps for much of the trek, so it’s recommended you use hiking poles (which you can hire or purchase in Nepal).
verified
While you’re trekking, you’ll be provided with a duffel bag that a female porter will carry. Your porter can carry up to 8 kg per traveller, and any other luggage can be left in Pokhara to collect at the end of the trek.
verified
The reality of road travel in Nepal is that things always take longer than you expect. Some roads will be bumpy, dusty or even unexpectedly blocked, which requires the occasional detour and plenty of patience – but that’s all part of the adventure. To make the most of your time in Nepal, you’ll also take a domestic flight from Nepal to Pokhara.
verified
Accommodation in some destinations may vary in standard and facilities, and hot water may be limited. In more remote parts of Nepal, eating at the hotel restaurant may be practical rather than heading out for optional meals.

While Tuuur would love to open these unique experiences to all our travellers regardless of gender, it’s simply not yet possible to do so while operating in a socially responsible and culturally sensitive manner. If you want to travel to Nepal on a similar itinerary, check out some other itineraries or consider booking a private group tour.

This all women’s trio was fantastic. Our trek was beautiful and we were blessed with amazing weather. We were taught so much about the Nepalese culture, people, traditions and way of life. This will be the first of many visits to this beautiful country

Nepal was better than I imagined! My leader Sanju was inspiring and lovely.
The women’s expedition was something that is a rare opportunity and I will take it with me forever.
To see parts of Nepal that would be otherwise unseen was amazing and the trek was my favourite part.
Meeting locals, singing, dancing and the beautiful food and views! You can’t go past this trip!

Our adventure in Nepal was truly unforgettable, thanks to the incredible organization and care from your team. From cultural visits and hikes to safari adventures and cooking classes, every experience felt authentic and gave us a real glimpse into the warmth of the Nepali people. We were welcomed into homes, shared stories, and felt part of the culture rather than just visitors.
Keshu, Nendu and Rhetoo were outstanding — always attentive, supportive, and ensuring everyone was happy, lending a hand when we struggled. The sisters who carried our bags were amazing too; spending time with them and hearing their stories added so much meaning to the journey.
This trip was more than sightseeing — it was connection, culture, and care. Thank you for showing us the real Nepal and making it such a special adventure

My first Intrepid trip exceeded expectations, with an incredible, diverse itinerary I couldn’t have experienced on my own. The trekking was challenging, but the pacing and breaks made it very doable if you’re concerned about difficulty! Safety was always a priority, and our guide Keshu was attentive, knowledgeable and inspiring. There isn’t enough space to fully express how amazing she, the other women, and this experience were—truly unforgettable and deeply restorative!

This trip was absolutely incredible and I would highly recommend it. From the moment of arrival, it was interesting and exciting, I wish I could do it all over again. The trekking was so beautiful, the cultural experiences amazing and Keshu Sherpa was an absolutely amazing guide. She kept us safe at all times, facilitated a group that had never met before, was well organised and went above and beyond. I felt very lucky to have her leading this trip.

The women’s expedition exceeded expectations. It was special to support not only the local women, who were all incredibly warm and welcoming, but to meet like-minded women and spend 2 weeks supporting one another. The Trek was a highlight, nothing can prepare you for the beauty of the Himalayas, and with a slow steady pace, the stairs are manageable and almost meditative in sections.
