Trip Informations
Experience Nepal with your family over an action-packed 11-days on an adventure that’s designed especially for teens and adults. Feel the thrill of whitewater rafting on the Trisuli River, challenge yourself on a breathtaking multi-day trek through the Annapurna foothills and soak up the sunrise at Poon Hill. Discover Nepal’s rich culture with hands-on pottery-making in Bhaktapur, meet the welcoming Gurung community in Ghandruk and learn the stories of the Tharu people in Chitwan. Spot rhinos and crocodiles on a jeep safari, then hop in a canoe through the lush Chitwan National Park, spotting wildlife as you go. Cruise across Pokhara’s beautiful lakes and explore Kathmandu’s busy local markets. Combining outdoor adventure, wildlife encounters, mountain scenery and cultural connections, this unforgettable family journey will show you the very best of Nepal.
Why you’ll love this trip
Make local connections as you try your hand at pottery-making in Kathmandu and meet members of the local Gurung and Tharu communities.
Go white-water rafting with the teens – you’ll navigate exhilarating Grade II and III rapids through wild jungle gorges along the Trisuli River.
Journey through mountain villages on a multi-day trek on Poon Hill. After each challenging, yet rewarding day of hiking, you’ll spend each night in a traditional tea house to recharge in comfort.
Watch the Himalayas wake up with the colours of sunrise as you soak in the panoramic views of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre – this is a moment your family will not soon forget.
Search for rhinos, crocodiles and exotic birdlife on a jeep and canoe safari in Chitwan National Park – Nepal’s first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its jungles and Bengal tigers.
Is this trip right for you?
The Poon Hill Trek is a scenic, moderate 4-day/3-night hike in Nepal’s Annapurna region. While the trek is considered family-friendly, it is important that all members of the family are in relatively good fitness and health. The trekking distances are included in the trip itinerary, and we recommend some training prior to your trip to be best prepared.
This trip also spends time at altitude; refer to the ‘Medical and health information’ for this trip to understand the risks.
The trekking lodges, known as teahouses, are very simple with only basic facilities. Hot water may not always be available and may cost extra, as will access to electricity points for charging devices. Wi-fi is available at some locations, but connections may be poor.
What you need to take will vary depending on the season in which you are trekking, and it’s important to be prepared. See some tips for what to pack here: tuuur.com/adventures/packing-guide-for-trekking-in-nepal
While you’re trekking, you’ll be provided with a duffel bag that a porter will carry. Your porter can carry up to 8 kg (17.6 lb) per traveller. Any other luggage can be left in Pokhara to collect at the end of the trek.
Due to the nature of outdoor travel, please be aware that this trip will operate on an amended itinerary in high-risk weather conditions.
