High Atlas Mountains can be very cold in the winter, with feel-like temperature reaching -20⁰C (or more on extreme days!), so you must have the appropriate footwear and clothing. To be fully prepared, please follow the recommended clothing list closely. As your luggage will be carried up the mountain by mules, we ask that you have no more than 1 bag (duffle bag or rucksack) weighing no more than 16 kgs and a small rucksack for trekking essentials.

Winter weather can be unpredictable in high mountains so we may need to make itinerary changes to keep the group safe and well at all times. If this occurs, we will do our best to find comparable activities and experiences

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Our guides, route, food, fellow hikers, accommodation and overall experience was our of this world. The beauty of the Atlas Mountains is beyond comparison to anything we have ever seen. The trek is difficult at times but made it easy by the support of experienced and local guides.

This was an amazing trip. The scenery was stunning, and our guide Muhammed was very capable and made us all feel safe and welcome. He showed us a side of Morocco that few tourists get to see. Hope to trek with him again in the future, and visit his village of Aroumd.
Mount Toubkal is a challenging climb, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to push themselves to their limit.

I recently completed an incredible hiking trip through Marrakesh, the Atlas Mountains, and Mount Toubkal, and I can't recommend it enough! The guides and assistant guides were outstanding—highly knowledgeable about the land and the area, which made the entire journey feel safe and well-organized. Their expertise and care ensured we were always looked after, and I felt completely at ease throughout the trek.
The food was another highlight, with an abundance of delicious traditional Moroccan dishes provided at every meal. I was never hungry, and the variety kept me excited for every mealtime. The accommodation was equally enjoyable, a well-balanced mix of refuge camps and comfortable lodging, each adding its own charm to the experience.
I was particularly pleased to find that many of the facilities, such as toilets, were Western-style, which was a pleasant surprise, and the showers were good quality—just don’t forget to pack shower shoes for the camps!
One of the most memorable aspects of the trip was the group of like-minded travelers I had the pleasure of sharing it with. Their company made the experience even more special, fostering a sense of camaraderie as we conquered trails together.
Having been on a few Intrepid trips, I can confidently say they consistently deliver excellence. This adventure was no exception. If you're considering this trek, I highly recommend it. It’s a perfect mix of stunning landscapes, cultural immersion, and well-thought-out logistics that ensure you're well-fed, comfortable, and safe throughout.

This trip was an excellent balance between providing a level of physical challenge alongside enjoyment and a sense of achievement. If you are lucky to have snow as, you will be rewarded with stunning landscapes. Lahcen was a fantastic guide, welcoming and friendly from the very first moment. He and Hussein took great care of our safety and wellbeing as well as making sure we enjoyed the time in the mountain to the fullest. Being a local from the High Atlas, he was a source of insight into Berber life and their relationship with the mountain. The meals we had during the trek were an added highlight - above and beyond what you would expect in the mountains.

Go with Mohamed Id Blaid! Kudos to him for managing a group of 9 individuals ranging from 18 years old to 68 years old. Bravo. Incredible experience. I felt so well, the trek was such an amazing experience.

This was my first trip with Intrepid and I’ll definitely be doing another. The trip was well organised with just the right level of challenge. Our guide was excellent, looking after the needs of the whole group, as well as being friendly and informative.

This is a remote strenuous trip up steep, boulder-covered slopes. You need to be 100% fit and healthy plus have checked all your equipment before going. Poles are a must even for younger treckers to be safe (I never use walking poles normally but needed them on the final day climb).
The guides are excellent, strong and capable of dealing with people struggling which is a great plus that made me feel much safer. Several people either:
- Did not make it to the top due to strength/altitude sickness and were escorted down; or
- Struggled to come down and were helped down safely by the guides.
The mountain refuge was much better than I expected with hot water, mini shop, clean toilets and good food.
The guides also ensured the pace was kept very gentle and kept the group together so anyone reasonably fit could get to the top.
I would certainly recommend having an extra few days in Marakesh in addition to this holiday.
I am a very fit 64-year-old and made it to the top easily but my boots were not big enough making the return painful and two back toes to prove it.
Overall, if you like strenuous hiking routes, this would be an excellent holiday to choose.

Starting our ascent of Toubkal just before dawn to reach the summit about four hours later was a lifetime experience. Our group was led superbly by Mohammed and Ibrahim, who throughout our trip looked after us as friends and ensured not only our safety but our enjoyment at all times.
