Get a real taste of adventure on your trek through the rugged Atlas Mountains and marvel at the spectacular scenery at every turn with views across the mountain ranges, Sahara Desert and Atlantic coast.
Experience local life after hiking to your accommodation in a traditional gite (mountain house) in an Amazigh village nestled high in the Atlas Mountains.
Enjoy a comfortably paced trekking trip – this trip is designed for hikers of all abilities, allowing less experienced trekkers to tackle this fantastic mountain peak and discover a passion for hiking, mountain climbing and exploring.
Embrace the vibrant souqs, sights, sounds and smells of Marrakech on a walking tour of the medina and visit to Bahia Palace. With your local guide leading the way, you'll uncover all the best spots and learn more about the culture.
By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Tuuur Foundation partner, Education for All. Donations help them support girls in the High Atlas Mountains through secondary school, bringing a generation of women out of the cycle of illiteracy, poverty and early marriage.
Is this trip right for you?
This is a trekking trip. In order to reach the summit of Mount Toubkal, you need to be reasonably fit and healthy. Previous mountain climbing or hiking experience is recommended, but this trip is suitable to those with little experience, too.
The summit of Mt Toubkal is 4167 m (13,671 ft) above sea level. At this height you may experience symptoms of altitude sickness. Please see the Medical and Health Information section of the Essential Trip Information for more information.
In 2025, Ramadan will take place from 1 to 30 March. Travelling during this holy month can be a rewarding cultural experience, however some regular services may not be available during the daytime, such as restaurants or coffee bars, and occasionally travel can be disrupted by events. Your leader will adjust the itinerary accordingly, but please consider your travel arrangements carefully before booking travel for this period.

It’s not often one has a “perfect” trip, but that’s what we had thanks to our wonderful mixed group, the gorgeous setting, lovely and welcoming locals, delicious food, good weather, AND MOST OF ALL OUR FANTASTIC LEADER ABDELLITIF, who was the glue that held us together, prioritized safety, was impeccable with logistics and communication, motivated us, made us laugh, and was so fun to be around. My first trip with Intrepid and I’ll be back. I particularly appreciated the company’s high animal welfare standards. Thank you so much! Well done!!

What a wonderful week! We had the best guide, who patiently and expertly got us all up to the top of Mt Toubkal. The scenery was amazing and we enjoyed exploring the local villages which were such a contrast to the energy of Marrakech. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would recommend to others!

I loved this trip. We had a great group, a great leader and local guide. We all got up to the summit, despite half of us being over 50 and me not considering myself really fit.

I highly recommend if you're looking for a challenge. Make sure you have good hiking shoes as the trail is very rugged. Also bring some base layers, gloves and a beanie as it is freezing cold in the summit. Our guide Lahcen was amazing and I felt very safe with him. The food is great and all the accommodations have hot shower (including basecamp). You can rent sleeping bag and poles.

I had an amazing experience on this trip. All the local guides (especially Omar) were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The food and accommodation were great throughout. The itinerary is so well-planned, with a perfect balance of different activities and plenty of opportunities to experience the local culture.

This trip was wonderfully catered and a suitable challenge for those wishing for a safe way to explore the high atlas mountains. Highly recommend this trip but there is some downtime in the mountains so a deck of cards is a must have.

Amazing experience. Our guide Lahcen was enthusiastic and passionate. Food was amazing. Be prepared for extreme heat if going in summer.
