Trip Informations
Join an eight-day women-only adventure for an unforgettable expedition to the remote and less-travelled reaches of Morocco. Begin in Marrakech, then set off to experience the side of Morocco they don’t tell you about in the guidebooks. Break bread with Amazigh families in remote homes, see how an artist co-op is empowering female rug-weavers in small villages, take in the beauty of the far-flung M’Goun Valley over four days of hiking with the region’s first local female guide and enjoy the singing and dancing of Moroccan women in cultural ceremonies in rural communities.
Why you’ll love this trip
Find out what it means to be a woman in Morocco as you travel with an all-women group and a local female leader, meeting plenty of inspiring women along the way.
Spend four days hiking between remote villages in the M’Goun Valley, accompanied by the region’s first ever local female guide, who will bring the region to life with her incomparable knowledge and experience.
Learn from the best as you take part in a traditional couscous cooking lesson, find out how to make fresh khobz (flatbread) and be welcomed into the home of a local woman in Marrakech for a meal you won’t forget.
Dine on delicious local cuisine as you watch a private performance by The Houariyates – an all- women band that will fill the room and your heart with joyful songs praising and celebrating women.
Visit the historic town of Ait Benhaddou and its iconic mudbrick ksar. You’ll soon see why this eye-catching site has been used as a backdrop in many famous films.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip involves walking from 5 to 8 hours on Day 3 to 6. The walks will lead you through picturesque valleys and rivers. The terrain may be unstable, rocky and hilly. Consider appropriate footwear, trekking poles and necessary clothing, including a warm jacket and raincoat.
You’ll need to bring a 3/4 season sleeping bag on this trip. Even though you’ll be staying in guesthouses and gites, they may not be heated, so a warm sleeping bag is essential.
The village accommodation on this trip is simple and you’ll be sharing rooms with other female travellers. On Day 5, there are two big rooms for the group, so you may share your room with up to five other travellers. Bathroom facilities are shared, but you can expect a hot shower each evening.

The Women's Expedition to Morocco was a fascinating and valuable experience. The trip at its core is a 4-day hike in the High Atlas mountains, led by Morocco's first female hiking guide. On this hike, you are accompanied by a team of cooks who provide every meal before, during and after the hike. The accommodations are basic, but quite nice. The evenings are filled with various cultural experience in which you learn a lot about women in this part of the world. Over the course of the days, our team (the leader as well as the local guide and cooks) really grew on us, they are such lovely, welcoming people. If you are considering this trip, I would recommend to learn a few words of Amazigh to communicate with them. Also, bring pencils for the local school children, who will be very curious to meet you (and talk to you in French).

Wow! What an incredible and authentic adventure I was lucky to have in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Our guide Bouchra, trainee guides Farah and Karima, hiking guide Mama Bea and the wonderful kitchen team showed the upmost generosity and kindness every step of the way. They were all extremely knowledgeable and unbelievably friendly. Mama Bea is an inspirational woman and was an honour to have her lead us each day. Hiking was a fantastic way to see off the beaten tracks of Morocco (I only saw other tourists on one day). The hiking on day 3 was the most challenging but still entirely manageable with many rest stops and an easy going pace. Most afternoons we had a couple of hours to rest and then we would enjoy an activity or activities and dinner. We met the friendliest locals along the way, laughed a tonne and enjoyed amazing food. The accommodation on day 3-5 is basic (mattresses on the floor with shared bathrooms) but it was extremely clean and I slept very well. We had the ability to charge our phones each night but reception was hit and miss (I was lucky with a Holafly e sim but others didn’t have as much luck). To top it off, the singing, musical instruments and dancing was phenomenal - to participate was extra fun (even for someone with two left feet lol). I highly recommend this amazing trip!!! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Absolutely amazing. Had the best time with Chama and Mama Bia. It felt more like travelling with friends than a booked tour. 20 out of 10!

The trip was ver well organized, with a great attention to detail. The itenary was very well thought out, starting with easy hikes and progressing to more challenging. The scenery was beautiful, local guides were very knowledgeable and excellent at picking the best trails, places for picnics. It was just the right combination of nature and culture. Chaimea is an excellent tour leader, she is full of energy and is fun. At the same time she is very well organized and was good at keeping us on schedule.
