Trip Informations
Join a women’s-only adventure for an unforgettable expedition to the remote and less-travelled reaches of Morocco. Begin in Marrakech, then set off to experience the side of Morocco they don’t tell you about in the guidebooks. Break bread with Amazigh families in remote homes, see how an artist co-op is empowering female rug-weavers in small villages, take in the beauty of the far-flung M’goun Valley over four days of hiking with the region’s first local female guide, and enjoy the singing and dancing of Moroccan women in cultural ceremonies in rural communities.
Why you’ll love this trip

Find out what it means to be female in Morocco as you travel with an all-women group, a local female leader, the M’Goun Valley’s first local female guide and meet plenty of inspiring women along the way.
verified
Learn from the best as you take part in a traditional couscous cooking lesson, find out how to make fresh khobz (flatbread), and be welcomed into the home of a local woman in Marrakech for a meal you won’t forget.
verified
Spend four days hiking between remote villages in the M’Goun Valley, accompanied by a local female guide who will bring the region to life with her incomparable knowledge and experience.

verified
Visit the historic town of Ait Benhaddou and its iconic mudbrick ksar. You’ll soon see why this eye-catching site has been used as a backdrop in many famous films.
Is this trip right for you?
verified
This trip involves walking from 4 to 7 hours on Day 3 to 6. The walks will lead you through picturesque valleys and rivers. The terrain may be unstable, rocky and hilly. Consider appropriate footwear and necessary clothing, including a warm jacket and raincoat.
verified
You’ll need to bring a 3/4 season sleeping bag on this trip. Even though you’ll be staying in guesthouses and gites, they may not be heated, so a warm sleeping bag is essential.
verified
The village accommodation on this trip is simple and you’ll be sharing rooms with other female travellers. On Day 5 there are two big rooms for the group so you may share your room with up to five other travellers. Bathroom facilities are shared, but you can expect a hot shower each evening.

I had the most amazing time on this trip. The group was incredibly fun, our leader Chaimae was amazing, very, very funny and well organised. Mama Touda had the most amazing smile and infectious energy and guided us safely through the valley, singing and laughing along the way. Our chef Mr "Oolala" kept us really well fed with the most incredible meals every day, he also helped with keeping us safe, going on ahead through sections of the river on the mules to test the currents etc. The whole team where so happy and smiley and genuinely seemed as though they loved each others company. The hiking was incredible, with different views and scenery every day so it was never "samey" we had so much fun, so many laughs. I don't think I have laughed as much as that in years. The included activities where also really good fun, dressing up for the wedding and dancing and just being silly and seeing the band on the last night was one of the funniest things, again infectious laughter. They had the most amazing energy and just so much fun! I loved every minute of this trip and I would recommend it to everyone! I will also just say to make sure you do bring your water shoes as it's walking through the river a lot more than the itinerary suggests when reading it online. The hiking was absolutely stunning, I didn't want to leave. Thankyou Chaimae, Mama Touda and Mr "Oolala" for the most incredible experience, I shall never forget it ♥️

What an amazing trip I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, our guide Bouchra and local guide Mamma B were very caring and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble. Our accommodation was always comfortable, some was a bit like rustic glamping but I didn’t mind that and it didn’t stop me from having a good nights sleep.
All of the food provided was delicious and plentiful even when out walking each day and afternoon tea at 5pm each day was a real treat! Malika is an amazing cook and a very funny lady too! everything was always hot and very tasty. We had our bags moved every day on mules by Malika and two local guys who were also great.
The trekking each day was amazing, you really get to see how the local people live. All of the area that we walked is very beautiful. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to visit Morocco and this part of the Atlas Mountains, the scenery is incredible.

If you love slow travel and getting to know the local people and their culture then this trip is for you. Buchra, our guide, Safi (mammaB) our local guide and our cooks/muleteers Malika, Mohammed and Baso, are the best! My heart is full!

This was one of the most interesting and enjoyable trips I have been on. Even though I'm not one who hikes often, I enjoyed getting out into nature and seeing the incredible landscapes of Morocco that I probably wouldn't have had the chance to see if I travelled on my own. Don't forget to bring water sandals, a sleeping bag (if you get cold at night), cash to buy souvenirs and products along the way, and coloured pens/candies for the local children you'll meet! And a special shoutout to Chaimae, one of the most wonderful guides I ever had the privilege of meeting, and all the incredible locals who helped with the trip (Malika, Fatima, Mohammed, and Bassou).

Loved spending time with our outstanding Amazigh guides, Naima and Mama Bia - confident, strong women who guided us expertly through valleys, gorges and water-crossings. They were the best part of the trip and a real testament to Intrepid. The hiking portion of this trip is very much off the beaten track - you will likely see no or few foreigners, and you will cross through (and stay in) rural villages, untouched by tourism / the 21st century. (Wifi may be limited / non-existent). Seems the demographic of this trip skews slightly older. Am in my 30s and found the hiking itself to be extremely easy. Bring a kindle or book as there is some downtime in the villages after arrival.

A visit to a land totally different from my life in London. Beautiful mountains, bird song, green valleys, warm welcoming locals, yummy food. A little changed place where people live happy lives in a basic way and the community is very strong. The food is so healthy and all home/field cooked. This trip is a treat and the walking is manageable for. mid fitness person, of any age. I had a real sense of achievement upon crossing the river and upon reaching the highest part of our journey.

This women’s tour was just fabulous. The trekking in the Atlas Mountains with the superb guide Naima was incredible. Naima made everyone feel capable of the trekking with her cheerful attitude and knowing she had out safety and comfort foremost in her mind was very reassuring. The scenery is breathtaking and the trekking whilst challenging is done at a steady pace and was inclusive for all. The local helpers Mama Bia and Fatima were legendary and became friends over the week together. We also had a wonderful cook with us on the trip who produced the most incredible food in the mountains for our lunches. If you are thinking of this tour don’t hesitate to book it, you will not regret it. Friendships were made through shared experiences that won’t be forgotten.
