This trip involves walking from 4 to 7 hours on Day 3 to 6. The walks will lead you through picturesque valleys and rivers. The terrain may be unstable, rocky and hilly. Consider appropriate footwear and necessary clothing, including a warm jacket and raincoat.

This trip has been a wonderful experience and i can totally recommend it to anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of the fascinating Amazigh people. A special thanks to our wonderful tour leader Hanane, which is such a kind and funny person, she really is as great as everyone is saying! Our porters/cooks Malika and Mohamed has been excellent and the times we danced, laughed and talked - i will cherish them forever. This was truly a magnificent experience!

Our trip was amazing!!! From the people , to the food , to the activities. I feel like we had such an authentic experience vs what tourists usually get to see. I felt welcomed by the locals and had such an amazing time with our group :-)

I highly recommend this tour for those wanting a deeper and authentic experience that goes beyond the photo op. Connecting with the local Moroccans both in the communities and in our team, especially the women, learning about their lives and cultures was very impactful. This tour is very woman-centric both with the women only group and the local activities you do, which was why I chose it. Our tour leader Fatimazahara was amazing, generous with her local knowledge and super warm and approachable - cannot recommend her enough! She prioritised our safety and no issue was too small to bring to her. Beyond the beautiful landscapes she made the experience deeper with her insights of customs and ways of life, the locals were excited to share their culture with us because Fatimazahara made everyone feel respected and welcome. You're out in remote villages so be prepared to be out of reception, and sleeping on matts in shared rooms - for those looking for more of an adventure this is perfect! We went in late September/ early October and it was quite warm during the day, only cooling down in the middle of the night. You don't have to be super fit for the walking but its still a good workout.

My first solo expedition. My first Intrepid trip. My first week-long trip with strangers. Every day was packed with new experiences, new knowledge and heaps of fun. Our Intrepid team was fantastic, so generous with their knowledge, experience and time, and the itinerary was varied and interesting. Highly recommended!

Having just finished my week in Morocco I can honestly say that I cannot rate this trip highly enough and would urge you to book on without delay. The mix of walking and activities was just right, the weather perfect and Hanane, the guide exceptional. I learnt so much about the Berber way of life and never felt uncomfortable asking questions which were always patiently answered. I went in September and found thermals were not required, good shoes for walking on stones in the river were and be aware that you will be trekking in the water for over an hour. Pillows were provided in all the lodges, so no need to squeeze that in your luggage and should you want a cold beer at the end of the day, be sure to pick up a few at Carrefour supermarket en route together with a bottle opener or corkscrew.I was fortunate enough to share my experience laughing and learning with five other lovely ladies, but having Hanane as our guide made a good trip great and I just cannot thank her enough.

Hafida was an incredibly passionate guide with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Her relationship with vendors, locals and everyone we met was one of friendship and respect and getting to share this experience with her, locals, and other women around the world was so special. Highly recommend this tour!

A special trip that you will not regret. Combines cultural immersion and physical/mental challenges with supporting amazing Amazigh women in the remote foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. Hanane and Mama Bia are national treasures and our mule/cooking team (Malika, Bassou, and Mohammad) provided our entertainment and magical meals. Come prepared to share a song from your culture with the group! Physical fitness statement felt accurate for a 50K hike. If you have weak ankles or knee problems you may not enjoy the challenge as much. Hiking poles are optional but bring at least one if you question your balance (it does make crossing streams and maintaining your footing on loose terrain easier). Do not skimp on bringing shower shoes, 1.5-2 liters for water, rehydration salts, a hat, scarf/long sleeve shirt for sun protection, and good SPF. You absolutely need closed toe water hiking shoes for day 2, it will make your hike better. I got the TEVA outflows and they came in handy as a second hiking shoe when my Merrell's started to come apart--was able to wear straight from the box on day 2 and half of day 3.

The women’s expedition in Morocco was such a lovely experience. Fabulous leader, great group of women, delicious food made fresh each day by our amazigh cooks and stunning views. It was a fantastic trip for experiencing the culture of Morocco and a nice way to see a country by hiking through the mountainside. Tips I would share…
- Having a camelpak for water was ideal (our guide bought water in bulk and we shared this - super easy when hiking).
- A good pair of shoes you can wear when crossing a knee high river in very rocky terrain (I just got my hiking shoes wet and they dried overnight for the next day but having a pair that’s easy to dry or something else to use in the water is probably better in the colder months (I went at the end of May).
- Some extra pens for the kids in the villages to give as gifts.
- We were fed so well I didn’t need to snacks I bought.
- Pack light, it was easy to use the same clothes again and again and hand wash as we went.
