Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Find out what it means to be female in Morocco as you travel with an all-women group, a local female leader, the M’Goun Valley’s first local female guide and meet plenty of inspiring women along the way.
Learn from the best as you take part in a traditional couscous cooking lesson, find out how to make fresh khobz (flatbread), and be welcomed into the home of a local woman in Marrakech for a meal you won’t forget.
Spend four days hiking between remote villages in the M’Goun Valley, accompanied by a local female guide who will bring the region to life with her incomparable knowledge and experience.
Dine on delicious local cuisine as you enjoy a private performance by The Houariyates – a female music band that will fill the room and your heart with joyful songs praising and celebrating women.
Visit the historic town of Ait Benhaddou and its iconic mudbrick ksar. You’ll soon see why this eye-catching site has been used as a backdrop in many famous films.
By travelling on this trip, you’ll learn about our Tuuur Foundation partner, Amal. Donations support them to provide women in Morocco with culinary skills training to help improve livelihoods. Tuuur will double your impact by dollar-matching all post-trip donations made to The Tuuur Foundation.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip involves walking from 4 to 7 hours on Day 3 to 6. The walks will lead you through picturesque valleys and rivers. The terrain may be unstable, rocky and hilly. Consider appropriate footwear and necessary clothing, including a warm jacket and raincoat.
You’ll need to bring a 3/4 season sleeping bag on this trip. Even though you’ll be staying in guesthouses and gites, they may not be heated, so a warm sleeping bag is essential.
The village accommodation on this trip is simple and you’ll be sharing rooms with other female travellers. On Day 5 there are two big rooms for the group so you may share your room with up to five other travellers. Bathroom facilities are shared, but you can expect a hot shower each evening.

As a solo female traveller in her late sixties, finding an active holiday with like minded women can be a challenge. The 8 day hiking trip in Morocco was serious fun and a great adventure. Our guide, Fatimazahra was a powerful ambassador for the Amazigh people enabling our group to learn so much about this rich culture whilst having a blast. I will remember this experience in remote villages of the Atlas Mountains for years to come.

My Women’s walking expedition in Morroco was a truly amazing experience. Our guide Hanane was a gem. She was kind, patient and helpful, with a great sense of fun. She had excellent knowledge of the local area, and always found out answers to any queries. The accommodation was basic in some of the villages, but we had been pre warned about this, and it was very clean and comfortable and added to the adventure. The food was delicious. I loved trying all the Moroccan recipes. Our cooking team were amazing too. We were provided with wonderful picnic feasts during our walks, and lovely breakfasts and dinners too. We were waited on hand and foot! It was my first time travelling alone, so I was apprehensive, but I had nothing to fear. I was looked after so well. I loved the daily rhythm of walking all day. There were a couple of long walks, and some gentler ones too, but I managed well. I was glad of my walking poles and good hiking boots. All in all, I had the most wonderful experience and plan to have another Intrepid adventure when I get the chance. Thank you!

Amazing experience with wonderful women. This trip was a great way to connect with the beautiful scenery and people of Morocco. Our tour group was incredible, and I am so thankful to have shared this experience with them. If you get the chance, document all the delicious types of bread that will be shared with you throughout the trip, starting at the beginng!

It was a truly great trekking trip, walking across villages, hills, mountains, streams in remote areas while experiencing local traditions and cultures. I can’t thank Hanane and Mama Bia enough for their extra care and patience. The trek was quite challenging for me as a total newbie, especially the path during the second half of the third day, but they put forth their best effort to ensure my safety and well-being. I also want to give a shoutout to my fellow travelers for their understanding and support throughout this journey. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I’m glad to have them in this journey. Thanks to Touda and Mohamed too for preparing delicious food and for walking beside me to ensure my safety while I rode the mule up the mountain 😆

If you are thinking of going on this trip, do it. You will be transported in a different world, travel with a group of women who share a similar interest even if they come from different walks of life. You will learn so much in such a short time. Wrap up warm as the nights are cold..

What made this trip extraordinary was first and foremost our guide Sara. I say "guide" but she was so much more than that. A mixture of guardian angel, embassadress and pioneering female role model, she shone every day radiating happiness and enthusiasm as we wandered through remote berber villages and gorges , across rivers and mountain passes and over hill tops and peaks chatting to women and girls of all ages some of whom welcomed her from past visits with their excited cries "Sara! Sara!". And then there was the rest of the team. Our steadfast berber guide Mamabia showed us the way and shared her stories ( and her dates, oranges and chocolate). Fatima and Fatima who provided us with some of the most delicious food I have ever eaten - fresh bread for breakfast, mouthwatering mid day picnics and sumptuous dinners, never two meals the same. And last but not least Mohammed who made sure our three mules were happy with our bags and who along with Fatima, Fatima and Mamabia sang and played traditional berber songs every evening. The itinerary was ideally planned, the local hostels were incredibly welcoming, the hikes were just the right length with every stop thoughtfully planned and one day water even turned up miraculously in the middle of nowhere. We barely saw other tourists and the whole week, fuelled by Sara, overflowed with laughter and happiness. I feel incredibly privileged to have spent such a unique week with such an amazing group. Unforgettable and totally inspiring!
