Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Travel by camel across the dramatic red dunes of the Sahara Desert and spend the night camping under North African stars.
Spend time in two of Morocco’s most picturesque towns – the 11th century kasbah of Ait Benhaddou and Chefchaouen, with its striking blue and whitewashed houses, red-tiled roofs and artistic doorways.
Tuck into a memorable dinner in Fes and dine on one of the city’s signature dishes – the salty and sweet pastilla, one of the best pies you’ve ever tasted!
Join expert local guides to explore medinas, Roman ruins and rural areas and gain a deeper understanding of significant sites in Rabat, Volubilis, Fes, M’Goun and Marrakech.
Take part in the traditional Amazigh activity of henna tattooing, where a naquasha will adorn your hands and feet with beautiful designs, supporting local women, their families and community with an income.
Is this trip right for you?
The Sahara Camp is on the edge of the desert. In 2019, the Moroccan government put measures in place to improve the safety, quality and impact of desert camps, which means that camping inside the Erg Chebbi dunes is no longer possible.
Several days include a great deal of time spent on your feet, particularly Day 5 (Fes) and Day 9 (M’Goun Valley). A moderate level of fitness and comfortable walking shoes will ensure you get the most out of your trip.
As a desert country, Morocco can have extreme weather. Please consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season. Refer to the ‘Climate and seasonal information’ section of the Essential Trip Information for more details.
Morocco has a tipping culture and travellers are expected to tip small amounts for most services. Your trip leader and the Money Matters section of the Essential Trip Information can assist you with this.
Although you shouldn’t expect any aggressive selling techniques in Morocco, it’s common to be approached by shop owners and street vendors offering their goods.
We've sourced our accommodation very carefully and picked the best possible hotels in line with the Tuuur style of travel, but please note that service and accommodation in Morocco may differ from standards at home.
Ramadan is an annual month-long festival, during which travel can be a rewarding cultural experience, however some regular services may not be available during the day, such as restaurants or cafes, and occasionally travel can be disrupted by events. Your leader will adjust the itinerary accordingly, but please consider this when selecting your travel dates. You’ll find dates and further information in the ‘Climate and seasonal information’ section of the Essential Trip Information.

The Morocco Uncovered trip was a varied and highly enjoyable introduction to Morocco. We liked the contrast between busy and historic cities, and unspoilt countryside. High spots included walking to the top of the dunes and being able to visits to local families. Our guide Hamid was fun and informative. He made a great trip special!

My wife and I have just come home after thirteen day tour around Morrocco. The tour was arranged through our tour operator Trail Finders. However, our local tour operator was Intrepid. We had an amazing tour guide called Ahmed Ennadouri. He was fantastic and explained things really well. Ahmed made sure that everyone was comfortable and safe while touring around. He made sure that everyone was taken care of.

Morocco uncovered is a fantastic trip for all ages, solo’s or couples . The trip covers a lot of the country within the 2 weeks, without being exhausting, enabling you to really experience and learn about the country, the people, the food and everything in between. Samir is an excellent tour leader so if you’re booking, try and get into his group. It was like no other trip I’ve been on!!

I really enjoyed this tour through Morocco! Our guide Oulaid was an incredible leader in keeping us on track, taking care of us, and teaching us all about Morocco, and our local guides offered great insights as well. While the trip included a lot of driving and a packed schedule, it allowed us to explore so many different cities and aspects of the country, and I left feeling like I got a full experience of all Morocco has to offer. From wandering the winding streets and medinas of the old cities, to riding camels in the Sahara (30m ride), and moderate hikes to incredible views in the mountains, I enjoyed how every day was different. I went in the winter, so I didn't experience extreme heat, but I did need a warm coat and shoes for once the sun went down. Also, the accommodations only seemed to get better as the trip went on (Casablanca wasn't a great first impression for me). I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to visit Morocco.
