Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Explore the dramatic red dunes of the Sahara Desert on a camel’s back, experiencing an unforgettable sunset – then stay under a blanket of North African stars in a desert camp.
Spend time in two of Morocco’s most picturesque towns – the 11th century kasbah of Ait Benhaddou and Chefchaouen, with its striking blue and whitewashed houses, red-tiled roofs and artistic doorways.
Watch the scenery change from desert to oasis in Todra Gorge and Dades Valley. Get active on a hike, learn about life in the oasis and enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch with Amazigh hosts.
Dive into the culture and history of Morocco – admire the majestic Volubilis ruins, rub shoulders with the locals in the old medina in Fes, and see the museums of Casablanca.
Where else would you find drummers, dancers, fortune tellers, jugglers, street food vendors and old medicine men all in one place? In Marrakech of course, exploring the acclaimed Djemaa el-Fnaa.
Is this trip right for you?
Summer temperatures in Morocco can get very hot (over 40°C). If you're travelling in the warmer months, be sure to wear layers, use sun protection and drink plenty of water. Nights can get quite cold, so warm clothes are essential.
Ramadan is an annual month-long festival, during which travel can be a rewarding cultural experience, however some regular services may not be available during the day, such as restaurants or cafes, and occasionally travel can be disrupted by events. Your leader will adjust the itinerary accordingly, but please consider this when selecting your travel dates. You’ll find dates and further information in the ‘Climate and seasonal information’ section of the Essential Trip Information.
As this trip covers quite a lot of ground there are some long drives. These are excellent opportunities to get to know your fellow travellers, catch up on some reading, or simply appreciate the scenery.
This trip doesn’t spend a lot of time in Marrakech. We highly recommend you plan extra time in this fascinating city if your time allows. Please speak to your booking agent if you are interested in booking additional nights in the city.

Ur first trip with Intrepid and as mature travellers in our sixties, we found the tour a great way to explore Morocco. Our guide Juba made the trip very memorable and we learnt so much about the county and its culture.

We had a great time on the Moroccan Highlights trip! We did the 10-day tour, and with such a limited time, we got to see so much more than what I would've been able to arrange planning alone. This trip does spend a significant time on the bus, but if you know this going in and are prepared for it, I found the payoff worth it. Our driver & team leader were both fantastic and made us feel very welcome.

Our tour guide Mbark was absolutely magnificent! Our tour bus was super comfy and came complete with a superb driver, Yusef. We learned so much and loved every moment. It was an unforgettable experience and we’ve made friends we know will be lifelong. Truly grateful! - James & Rosie

Fantastic trip. Had a taste of everything for 10 days. From souks to Medina, amazing landscape, deserts, valleys. There really was everything. The in-depth understanding to learn parts of the everyday lifestyle and culture, the people and the depth of knowledge you are able to learnt on this trip was excellent. I can't really fault the trip. It was authentic, the places felt real, not glamorous or fake. To experience deserts to pouring snow a day later was incredible. The itinerary was good, not too full on. The leader Ayoub Nabil was excellent. He had passion, knowledge of the areas. He has extensive knowledge of Morocco overall, with current affairs and history to enrich our experience. He was organised, good at explaining the meaning behind certain ways and ideas that were new to the group. As well as bringing calmness, kindness, energy and passion. The driver Omar was a beast and not a safer driver in Morocco. Overall would recommend this trip, for the accomodation, services, inclusions, transport, locations, new cities/towns, tour guide and local guides. And the knowledge and feeling you come away feeling

Morocco Highlights was incredible—beautiful cities, desert sunsets, mountain scenery, and truly memorable cultural experiences. The absolute standout was our group leader Ayoub Saket. He was organized, knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely passionate about Morocco. He made everything run smoothly and made us feel safe, cared for, and connected to the country in a deeper way. The Sahara portion was unforgettable. Highly recommend this trip—and Ayoub Saket is an outstanding guide.

To Ayoub Saket, our guide your knowledge, patience, humour, and care turned every mile into a story and every place into an experience. From bustling medinas to quiet desert moments, you guided us with generosity and pride in your country, and it showed in everything you did. I leave Morocco with a full heart, lasting memories, and great appreciation for having taken this particular trip. I am richer now!
