Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Explore the dramatic red dunes of the Sahara Desert on a camel’s back, experiencing an unforgettable sunset – then stay under a blanket of North African stars in a desert camp.
Spend time in two of Morocco’s most picturesque towns – the 11th century kasbah of Ait Benhaddou and Chefchaouen, with its striking blue and whitewashed houses, red-tiled roofs and artistic doorways.
Watch the scenery change from desert to oasis in Todra Gorge and Dades Valley. Get active on a hike, learn about life in the oasis and enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch with Amazigh hosts.
Dive into the culture and history of Morocco – admire the majestic Volubilis ruins, rub shoulders with the locals in the old medina in Fes, and see the museums of Casablanca.
Where else would you find drummers, dancers, fortune tellers, jugglers, street food vendors and old medicine men all in one place? In Marrakech of course, exploring the acclaimed Djemaa el-Fnaa.
By travelling on this trip, you’ll learn about our Tuuur Foundation partner, Amal. Donations support them to provide women in Morocco with culinary skills training to help improve livelihoods. Tuuur will double your impact by dollar-matching all post-trip donations made to The Tuuur Foundation.
Is this trip right for you?
Summer temperatures in Morocco can get very hot (over 40°C). If you're travelling in the warmer months, be sure to wear layers, use sun protection and drink plenty of water. Nights can get quite cold, so warm clothes are essential.
Ramadan is an annual month-long festival, during which travel can be a rewarding cultural experience, however some regular services may not be available during the day, such as restaurants or cafes, and occasionally travel can be disrupted by events. Your leader will adjust the itinerary accordingly, but please consider this when selecting your travel dates. You’ll find dates and further information in the ‘Climate and seasonal information’ section of the Essential Trip Information.
As this trip covers quite a lot of ground there are some long drives. These are excellent opportunities to get to know your fellow travellers, catch up on some reading, or simply appreciate the scenery.
This trip doesn’t spend a lot of time in Marrakech. We highly recommend you plan extra time in this fascinating city if your time allows. Please speak to your booking agent if you are interested in booking additional nights in the city.

Our small group size of 8 travellers was perfect. Our expert local trip leader. Youssef, was such a special part of our experience. He taught us so much about Morocco, the welcoming and warm people, the culture and language. Our driver, Amal, was skilled and competent. It felt like a magical road trip around Morocco.

The tour I joined with Intrepid in Morocco definitely gave some really cool experience during my trip. It was worth the money. I would like to give a special shout out to the tour guide Manale, if you have her extra tour guide, you’re in luck. She was very helpful and knowledgeable and friendly while maintaining her professional professionalism.

This is my second Intrepid tour so I had high expectations. I am very happy to say that my expectations were exceeded! I now have great respect for Morocco and its people, its history and culture – mostly due to our guide Rachid's passion for his country and his work.

Rachid made our journey through Morocco unforgettable, guiding us with warmth, passion, and deep knowledge. His stories of the Amazigh people — their history, traditions, and beliefs — brought the country’s culture to life. More than sightseeing, he gave us authentic connections and lasting memories that I’ll cherish forever.
