Trip Informations
Imagine a country with the charisma of Europe, the passion of Africa and the charm of the Middle East – a place where ancient cultures are intertwined with dramatic landscapes and time-worn medinas. Now, the whole family can fall under Morocco’s spell on this eight-day adventure from magical Marrakech to the old pirate port of Essaouira, covering everything from camel-clad deserts to ocean beaches along the way. So, whether it’s in spice-infused back alleys, among crumbling Roman ruins or below the snow-capped Atlas Mountains – the allure of Morocco will prove impossible to ignore.
Why you’ll love this trip
Sip sweet mint tea in rural villages, see goats climbing trees in the desert and tap your foot to traditional Amazigh musicians in Marrakech – Morocco is a real treat for the senses!
Adventure into the Atlas Mountains and stay with a local family for an insight into traditional Moroccan life.
With French, Portuguese and Jewish influences, Essaouira is about as exotic as it gets. Feast on freshly caught seafood, explore unique art galleries and be dazzled by a blue-specked townscape.
Witness the magnificent rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean from the back of a camel.
Is this trip right for you?
A camel trek along the Atlantic Ocean (Day 5) is a highlight of the trip for many travellers. But if you'd rather not ride a camel, you can always walk alongside the camels instead. It's a gentle, relaxing walk of about an hour each way.
The walk to the homestay in the High Atlas Mountains can be hard in some places. Please talk to your leader if you would like to opt to travel on the back of a mule for this portion of the trip.
Summer temperatures in Morocco can get very hot. If you're travelling in the warmer months, be sure to wear layers, use sun protection and drink plenty of water. Nights can get quite cold, so warm clothes are essential.
There are some long travelling days on this trip as we cover a great deal of land. The road to the High Atlas Mountains is very windy, please take this into consideration if you or your child suffer from motion sickness.

Important notes
1. Please note that these trips are for adults and children travelling together and there must be at least one child under 18 with you.
2. Minimum age for children on this trip is 5 years old. Please note that anyone aged under 18 must be accompanied by (and share accommodation with) a parent or legal guardian.
3. CHILD PRICE: Children aged 17 years and under at time of travel on this trip, are eligible to receive 20% off the full adult price.
4. A single supplement is available if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement excludes Day 2 (Around) where you will be in shared accommodation and is subject to availability. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.
5. While Wi-Fi is available in our hotels it is important to note that wi-fi works best in the hotel foyer and will be very slow in the rooms. An easier option may be to purchase a SIM card in Morocco to stay connected.
6. Ramadan is an exciting time to travel through Morocco but there are also a few things to bear in mind. Meal times will be a lot later than you may be used to, in particular dinner. You will find restaurants will open at 7–7.30 pm in the evening for dinner. Which will mean your family may not be eating dinner until 8–8.30 pm. Likewise breakfast may not start until 7 am. As you travel through the countryside there will be limited small road side cafes to stop at. Your leader will pre-plan where to stop to ensure families have access to snacks and bathroom stops along the way. Morocco is a Muslim country therefore alcohol is not readily available, particularly during Ramadan.

This was our first trip with intrepid and it didn’t disappoint. It was a good introduction to travelling as a family and we enjoyed all the activities and local experiences. We were lucky to have a great group to travel with, a fantastic guide and our children have made new friends and had some wonderful new experiences.

Our family trip to Morocco with Intrepid was nothing short of incredible. From start to finish, the experience was thoughtfully designed, seamlessly organized, and full of unforgettable moments that catered perfectly to both adults and children. What really stood out was how well-balanced the itinerary was. Each day brought a new adventure—exploring bustling souks, riding camels and donkeys, and visiting Moroccan families aswell as wandering through ancient medinas, and even enjoying some downtime to relax and soak in the atmosphere. The pace was ideal for a family, never feeling rushed but still packed with enriching experiences. Our local guide was exceptional—knowledgeable, friendly, and especially great with the kids. They brought Morocco’s culture, history, and traditions to life in a way that was engaging for all ages. It felt like we weren’t just visiting the country, but truly connecting with it. The accommodations were another highlight. From charming riads to a magical home stay in the mountains , every place we stayed felt authentic, comfortable, and welcoming. The food was also a big hit—delicious tagines, fresh bread, and plenty of options even for picky eaters. What we appreciated most was how stress-free everything was. Traveling as a family can sometimes be challenging, but Intrepid took care of all the logistics, allowing us to simply enjoy the journey and focus on making memories together. This trip exceeded all our expectations. It was the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation, and gave us experiences we’ll be talking about for years to come. We wouldn’t hesitate to travel with Intrepid again—highly recommended for families looking for something truly special.

This family trip to Morocco was life changing. Our guide Hussein went above and beyond to make sure our experience was a good one. He took us to see Africa cup games because he knew we liked soccer. He was knowledgeable and make sure we were safe. He really went above and beyond and was a kind person. We loved the cultural and local experiences. It made our trip so unique and special. Our kids will have grown from this experience and we are so grateful for the opportunities we had. We would highly recommend Intrepid and will be doing another family trip.

Really great experience to interact with local culture for families. Hamid did a wonderful job interacting with children and never lost his cool even when faced with unexpected challenges like snowed in passes, travelers getting sick and delays. It was a great group of four families who came from all over the world.

My so. And I enjoyed our first family holiday in Morocco. It was spread out over 7 days travelling across the country and stopping at different destinations. A nice balance of active and leisure activities to keep children and parents happy. We had a lovely group of families from the U.K. with children of different ages 9-18 years old. The kids got on like house on fire. Our local tour guide Hamid was knowledgeable and experienced, who was very attentive throughout the journey. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend Intrepid and the Morrocan family trip. We had adults and a 9, 11, and 19 year old. Everyone enjoyed the trip. The trip really packs a lot in but no one felt too exhausted or overwhelmed and the inclusions--donkey and camel rides, cooking demos, etc--were fun and interesting for adults and kids alike. We went at the end of August and it was hot, but not terrible. Our guide Mohamed was fantastic and we had a great time with the other family on the trip.
