Trip Informations
Imagine a country with the charisma of Europe, the passion of Africa and the charm of the Middle East. A place where ancient cultures are intertwined with dramatic landscapes and time-worn medinas give a glimpse into imperial cities of the past. Now, the whole family can fall under Morocco’s spell on an action-packed adventure from magical Marrakech to the old pirate port of Essaouira, covering everything from camel-clad deserts to pristine beaches along the way. So whether it’s in spice-infused back alleys, among crumbling Roman ruins or below the snow-capped Atlas Mountains – the allure of Morocco will prove impossible to ignore.
Why you’ll love this trip
verified
Morocco is a real feast for the senses. Sip sweet mint tea in rural villages, see goats climbing trees in the desert, and tap your foot to traditional Amazigh musicians in Marrakech
verified
Adventure into the Atlas Mountains and stay with a local family for an insight into traditional Moroccan life.
verified
With French, Portuguese and Jewish influences, Essaouira is about as exotic as it gets. Feast on fresh-caught seafood, explore unique art galleries and be dazzled by a blue-specked townscape.
verified
Witness the magnificent rolling waves of the Atlantic ocean from the back of a camel.
verified
By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Tuuur Foundation partner, Education for All. Donations help them support girls in the High Atlas Mountains through secondary school, bringing a generation of women out of the cycle of illiteracy, poverty and early marriage.
Is this trip right for you?
verified
A camel trek along the Atlantic Ocean (Day 5) is a highlight of the trip for many travellers. But if you'd rather not ride a camel, you can always walk alongside the camels instead. It's a gentle, relaxing walk of about an hour each way.
verified
The walk to the Berber homestay in the High Atlas Mountains can be hard in some places. Please talk to your leader if you would like to opt to travel on the back of a mule for this portion of the trip.
verified
Summer temperatures in Morocco can get very hot. If you're travelling in the warmer months, be sure to wear layers, use sun protection and drink plenty of water. Nights can get quite cold, so warm clothes are essential.
verified
There are some long travelling days on this trip as we cover a great deal of land. The road to the High Atlas Mountains is very windy, please take this into consideration if you or your child suffer from motion sickness.

6. Ramadan is an exciting time to travel through Morocco but there are also a few things to bear in mind. Meal times will be a lot later than you may be used to, in particular dinner. You will find restaurants will open at 7–7.30 pm in the evening for dinner. Which will mean your family may not be eating dinner until 8–8.30 pm. Likewise breakfast may not start until 7 am. As you travel through the countryside there will be limited small road side cafes to stop at. Your leader will pre-plan where to stop to ensure families have access to snacks and bathroom stops along the way. Morocco is a Muslim country therefore alcohol is not readily available, particularly during Ramadan.

This was not like any other tour I've been on. I was extremely surprised how immersed we became in the country and the culture -and for me, that always sits top of the list. Gutted to come home!

Our guide Mohamed Sagout made this trip for our family. The destinations and activities were a good balance for a family travelling with a 9 year old but our guide really welcomed us and made us feel at home in Morocco. My son loved the camel riding and exploring the mountains.

The Morocco family holiday trip was amazing. We came knowing very little about the county and culture and we leave knowing a lot about the history, language, people and culture. I would recommend this trip to anyone considering a family adventure excursion holiday. We have a 9 and 6 year old and both loved every minute of it. 10 out of 10

This trip was fantastic for our family with two children under 10. It was well organised and managed, and everything went very smoothly and according to the itinerary. There was just the right mix of activities and rest time so that the children coped well when we had some distance to travel. We had so many different and memorable experiences in beautiful scenery and with lovely local people. Our leader Oulaid was kind, organised, professional, knowledgeable, and approachable for kids and adults alike. Thank you!

I highly recommend this trip. I took my 12 year old granddaughter who absolutely loved it. It helped that there were others of her own age, and some slightly older who were more than willing to join in the fun and games. We were on the move all the time (motion sickness tablets recommended if in doubt - not least for the camel ride!). A pack of cards for the evenings worked brilliantly. All in all, a wonderful experience. Bring on the next one (while she still wants to come with her old granny!)

I went on this trip with my two lads and they said that it was the best holiday that they have ever had. We loved the country and found the people so welcoming and friendly. It was a great mixture of city life, peaceful mountain scenery and relaxation on the Atlantic coast. So much was packed into one week and yet the pace felt relaxed and enjoyable. I hope to see some more of Morocco one day, such a beautiful country, and our guide, Mohammed Azabi, was fabulous, so gentle, kind and knowledgeable.

This was our first Intrepid adventure but won’t be our last. As a family with children aged 20, 17 and 12 it can be difficult to find a trip or activities that suits everyone but we found it in our Morocco holiday. Every day was full of excitement and new experiences. We had great fun with our fellow travelers and an excellent leader in Ibrahim. From our mountain stay, donkey and camel rides, to the different environments of Marrakech and Essaouira, we had an amazing time.

If you are on the fence about Morocco being suitable for young kids, don’t be. It’s wonderful, safe and fun.
